Infamous Moments
[edit]I refer to the following paragraph: "Another infamous moment was against Hawthorn, when he kicked a behind to draw the teams even at the siren, but was then offered another kick for an infringement, whereby a goal would win the match. Blight kicked the ball out on the full, giving Hawthorn the win. Although the difficult conditions of Arden street oval, (muddy and wet), he failed to notice the man on the mark moved to the left, hence Blight's error in lining up the shot was not at the goal, but where the man on the mark was. Thus he was assured of missing the goals and points altogether."
Does anyone know the year this occurred? Thanks for any help. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 23:56, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- According to the AFL stats pages (http://stats.rleague.com/afl/seas/1977.html) this game looks like it took place in Round 12, 1977. I'll check it out. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 05:54, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- According to THE AGE newspaper David O'Hallaran pushed Blight in the back as he kicked the ball through for a point. The umpire, Neville Nash, invited Blight to accept the score but he declined. The umpire then set the mark some 20 metres back from where Blight had landed. The siren sounded and, according to the report, "...the extra distance, driving rain, appalling conditions combined with the tension of the moment to produce a sloppy miss-kick which went out of bounds." There is no mention here that O'Hallaran moved on the mark. Does anyone have a reference for that part of the story? Perry Middlemiss (talk) 04:02, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
North Queensland
[edit]A lot of reports regarding the Gold Coast club state that Malcolm Blight is now based in (far) North Queensland. Anyone have any ideas or sources to confirm this move? 121.209.0.23 (talk) 04:18, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Coaching at Woodville
[edit]I'm sure Blight coached Woodville 1983-87 (not 1983-1986). The reason I remember is Port Adelaide famously sacked Russell Ebert at the end of 1987, so Ebert can't have been Woodville coach in 1987. I've correct the year but not the number of games. Adpete (talk) 05:44, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
Who did Blight cut at the of 1996 from Adelaide?
[edit]The article says McGuiness, A. Jarman, McDermott and Anderson. My recollection is that the latter two had retired. Adpete (talk) 05:55, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
