Split Green Family from Makawao Union Church
[edit]The Green family Bio would be better suited as a separate article than integrated en-masse in the Makawao Union Church article. The article should focus on Makawao union Church, and the infobox at top right now is abit misleading. --293.xx.xxx.xx (talk) 18:13, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, please do it when you have the time. The misleading part is that the person was dead long before the structure on NRHP was built. He was notable for other things besides this church, e.g. he has some writings in the Agricultural Society, and ran Poʻokela (get a picture of that too of course when you can). The church is notable for other associations, e.g. Baldwins, Dickeys, etc. Thanks W Nowicki (talk) 00:25, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, please split off the biography. I'm about to uploading several new photos of the church building, which deserves its own unadulterated article. Joel (talk) 17:57, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I split the two. Some more cleanup may be advisable. Joel (talk) 06:54, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Looks good, thanks. I am not a big fan of "galleries" so I would say, maybe, remove the 1917 pic totally, replace with a modern one (do you have that angle? or the first shot in the gallery is a good overall view) since the 1917 pic has nobody notable in it. Then reduce the gallery to one line (four shots). And I can work on the linkage a bit. e.g. the Green article needs to link here, and explain the name change. W Nowicki (talk) 17:14, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
- I was horrified to discover (after it was too late) that my same-angle shot of MUC was out of focus and that I didn't take a second shot from that angle, as is my habit. I think galleries are fine for visual artists and architects, to give a sense of the range of their work. I also added a big gallery to Lahaina Historic District just to let future editors know that photos are available and can be moved and used to illustrate separate sections and/or new articles yet to be written. In such cases, galleries are temporary expedients for article stubs. I've also uploaded a bunch of photos to Wikimedia Commons for Wailuku Civic Center Historic District, but don't even have a stub of an article to place them into. Joel (talk) 23:58, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
The "northwest corner" shot is a pretty good overall view, although it is nice to see how the old and new curch share the same footprint. Anyway, very well illustrated now, thanks.
Looks like Wailuku Civic Center Historic District is there now. Thanks to the mysterious 293.xx I think. He used an interesting technique of putting all four photos together. W Nowicki (talk) 02:37, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
