botan?
[edit]What the heck is a "botan"? Did you mean "baton"? I'd correct it myself but I know nothing about this subject.
oh please... those are not majorettes!!! Majorettes, historically, came from France far back in the 16th century and they certainly DO NOT dance with knives and such stuff!!! This is just what American "culture" did from majorettes... If you want to see what real majorettes are like, you should look for Croatian majorettes, traditional and yet very interesting, like Zagreb majorettes, etc. the link is http://hms.blog.hr there you can find other links for majorettes blogs... pls would someone edit this - this is more an article about what majorettes shouldn't be and gives an entirely wrong picture about a great sport... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.1.206.169 (talk) 19:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Some ideas for improvement
[edit]This article makes me really sad. I think it would be a great idea to add two different sections, one for High School majors and one for collegiate majors. Also, splitting the collegiate section into divisions I, II, and III would be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gmz10 (talk • contribs) 00:54, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. The article has very little connection to what majorettes of today really do. As a former majorette myself, I was quite disappointed.
- I'm sure this will also be true for readers interested in knowing more about majorettes, and perhaps associated topics like how various baton twirls are done, or what kind of training is required to become a majorette. Augnablik (talk) 21:12, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
primary topic?
[edit]Per WP:DPT, I had a look at:
- https://pageviews.toolforge.org/?project=wiki.riteme.site&platform=all-access&agent=user&redirects=1&range=all-time&pages=Majorette_(dancer)%7CMajorette_(toy_manufacturer)%7CMajorette_(song)%7CThe_Majorettes
- https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=majorette,%2Fm%2F07ysz0,%2Fm%2F04lggtd,majorettes
- https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Majorette&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=26&smoothing=3&case_insensitive=true
I'm not 100% convinced that wikt: majorette is the primary topic over the toy brand, but if it is, we should actually move the majorette (dancer) article to this title instead of having this page a redirect. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 20:46, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
