November 2014

[edit]

The meaning is as follows: He = O!; Trayambakam = three eyed one (Lord Shiva); Yajama = [I] worhip; Sugandhim = sweet smelling; pushti vardhanam = strength giving; urvarukam = melon; iva = like; bandhanaat = from the attachment; mrityoh = O death; moksheeya = loosen ma = not; amrutat = from immortality.

Meaning: O Lord Shiva! I worship you. O death do not loosen me from [my] attachment to immortality like [loosening] the sweet smelling and strength giving melon [from its vine]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RaghupatiB (talkcontribs) 19:58, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Different sanskrit spelling

[edit]

I have marked the current mantra sanskrit devanagari and transliteration texts as non matching with the reference.(diff)

Here is yet different variant taken from Rgvedasamhita vol. III (1890-95) by Friedrich Max Müller:

त्र्यंबकं यजामहे सुगंधिं पुष्टिवर्धनं ।
उर्वारुकमिव बंधनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥

I think I have fixed the situation:

• The link to the Devanagari source is now leading to the exact page where the verse is. • I’ve found a different source for the matching transliteration with Vedic accents. --Geke (talk) 12:39, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
