Lyrics

[edit]

There are more lyrics than the prologue, about 9 minutes into the song. I don't know what they are, though they sound like "grow, maggot brain, go" or something like that. Anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.93.149.79 (talkcontribs) 20:02, July 25, 2007

They're not really lyrics, they're more like words being whispered in your ears (or Eddie's ears?). According to the Motherpage, the "lyrics" are:
Come on Maggot Brain
Go on Maggot Brain
And funk is its own reward. — Malik Shabazz (Talk | contribs) 03:22, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Covers

[edit]

What about John Frusciante "cover" from "The Empyrean"?, Doesn´t it mind in the "Maggot Brain" cover´s list?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.231.34.107 (talk) 12:31, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to what people write in the article, it's not a cover of "Maggot Brain". So no, it doesn't belong in a list of cover versions. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 03:12, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But then, according to what people write in the article, to version a song in a concert shouldn´t consider that they cover the song, because if Frusciante creates a very seemed version of "Maggot Brain" introduced on his last disc, it won´t appear on this list. I think new data ought to be added in the article, like curiosity at least. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.231.34.107 (talk) 10:51, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If Frusciante's song sounds like "Maggot Brain" but isn't called "Maggot Brain", and if nobody has written that it's a cover of "Maggot Brain", then it's just speculation to call it a cover of "Maggot Brain". — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 19:13, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

citation needed for effects units?

[edit]

Just a thought, but for something as aurally obvious as referencing the effects units the guitar is sent through is a citation really needed? Because anyone who has heard the song would know the claim to be correct. I would have simply removed it, but maybe it is necessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.13.140.185 (talk) 00:48, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Maggot Brain (song)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Maggot Brain (song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "pop":

  • From Cleveland: "Race and Hispanic Origin for Selected Cities and Other Places: Earliest Census to 1990". U.S. Census Bureau. Archived from the original on August 12, 2012.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 00:15, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
