Photo

[edit]

That's about the worst photo of a downtown I've ever seen. Can't we do any better? Kendall-K1 (talk) 16:34, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

They don't as far as I can tell. I also checked Flickr. I guess we're stuck with what we have. Kendall-K1 (talk) 12:19, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could we email Madison chamber of commerce and have them fight over which free image they would like for the article? A photoclub, museum, libray may be better and have a contest for one?--Canoe1967 (talk) 13:50, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable?

[edit]

Is this place notable? It seems to be a neighborhood, not a town or city. There is only one source, and it is primary. Should this article just be deleted? Kendall-K1 (talk) 12:10, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was originally a separate place, about eight miles from Nashville proper. The name appears in various histories of Davidson County and the like; so yeah, it's notable. The article just needs some serious work and some historical context. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:25, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is this place notable? Yes. It's a city! It's zip code is 37115. 2601:483:100:CB54:9DF8:46A4:F902:A567 (talk) 23:16, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

==Importance==

Low importance. As a smaller town the topic of this article is of mostly local interest.

==Quality==

Stub class. Article is short. Needs more information, images, structure by sub-headers and references to verify the facts.

Quality

[edit]

For my Communication class, I am required to comment on a Wikipedia talk page. The history needs to be expanded on in addition to the sources. More photos need to be included. (Dh5602a (talk) 22:47, 11 September 2016 (UTC))[reply]

I think it would be beneficial to use some of these secondary and tertiary sources to better enhance this page. [1] [2] [3]

@Dh5602a: - In educational lingo, this is what's known as a "low-yield" assignment (also called "busy work"), and you have likely learned very little and had little engagement with the assignment. Not your fault, but you would have learned a lot more, and perhaps even become a regular Wikipedia editor, had you been told to actually write additional history for the article, and search for public domain photos online. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:28, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Magnolia667, Your comment is why Wikipedia fails to gain Editors. You came off as rude and condescending. The person you addressed is probably in Middle school, and you're harping on the child about what the teacher should've done. Do you really think someone that seems relatively young (judging from their comment) is going to know what public domain is? And if the editor had written anything, someone would have removed it because it more than likely wouldn't have a source. Why did you feel the need to start lecturing about busy work? It's Editors like yourself that scare potential Editors away from Wikipedia. 2601:483:100:CB54:9DF8:46A4:F902:A567 (talk) 23:26, 2 January 2017 (UTC) I just looked through the history. The user tried to add something to the article and Magnolia667 removed it because it was unsourced. I notice you didn't leave the editor a note explaining why you undid their additions to the article. Great job! 2601:483:100:CB54:9DF8:46A4:F902:A567 (talk) 23:30, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Madison, TennesseeMadison (Tennessee neighborhood) – it is a neighborhood and we shouldn't treat it like a city when we refer to it. Georgia guy (talk) 14:48, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
