Second semi-automated peer review

[edit]

The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.

  • Please expand the lead to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article.[?]
  • Consider adding more links to the article; per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) and Wikipedia:Build the web, create links to relevant articles.[?]
  • You may wish to consider adding an appropriate infobox for this article, if one exists relating to the topic of the article. [?] (Note that there might not be an applicable infobox; remember that these suggestions are not generated manually)
  • Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings), headings generally should not repeat the title of the article. For example, if the article was Ferdinand Magellan, instead of using the heading ==Magellan's journey==, use ==Journey==.[?]
  • Please make the spelling of English words consistent with either American or British spelling, depending upon the subject of the article. Examples include: harbor (A) (British: harbour), favourite (B) (American: favorite), organise (B) (American: organize), recognize (A) (British: recognise), isation (B) (American: ization), analyse (B) (American: analyze), anemia (A) (British: anaemia), programme (B) (American: program ).
  • Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
    • Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “All pigs are pink, so we thought of a number of ways to turn them green.”
    • “In the year [of] 1999”
  • As done in WP:FOOTNOTE, footnotes usually are located right after a punctuation mark (as recommended by the CMS, but not mandatory), such that there is no space in between. For example, the sun is larger than the moon [2]. is usually written as the sun is larger than the moon.[2][?]
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]

You may wish to browse through User:AndyZ/Suggestions for further ideas. Thanks, APR t 04:47, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too long lead.

[edit]

The peer review notes that the lead should be expanded, the lead as I understand should be a summary of what the article is about, nothing new should be contained in the lead. This articles lead does not comply to this criteria, will somebody help? Please take the too long lead tag off Prashant. Article problems

[edit]

A couple to start the ball rolling, as of now the entire Dance section is plagiarised from the cited source, and the same source is used for the liquor policy section but it does not seem to support a word of the statements made.

Oh, and the quote from the Gazetteer is way too long. It needs to be trimmed right back. - Sitush (talk) 20:36, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For how to deal with plagiarism in an out of copyright situation, see Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain_sources. The article as it stands simply is not clear enough regarding this point. - Sitush (talk) 20:47, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Liquor reference added, on the other help yourself.Yogesh Khandke (talk) 21:05, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The sub-section begins The Chanda district gazette description of the Madia is as follows:, the text is in italics. It carries inline citation, is it still plagiarism?Yogesh Khandke (talk) 21:24, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
