Thanks for the move (Maculele (dance) to Maculelê (dance)); however, I don't think the "(dance)" is necessary, as there is nothing else by the name Maculelê. Can someone fix this? Thanks... --Cotoco 05:01, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

possible origin of the name

[edit]

I just noticed that the basque word for a stick (similar to the one used in Maculele) is called Makila anyone else wonder if there is a comment root in the entymology? Perhaps one gave the name to the other? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.202.165.152 (talk) 00:20, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sparks

[edit]

The May 7 edit to pull the line about sparks puzzles me -- I've seen maculelê played with machetes and sparks definitely fly. Since the only explanation given for the edit is "that isn't how real life happens" I'd like to change it back to read:

"The sounds of the knives striking one another, and the showers of sparks that are formed, make this performance particularly impressive. " — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.103.26.19 (talk) 19:11, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This video clearly shows such sparks at 1:29: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhUDWs-jvMk&t=1m24s — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amanda bee (talkcontribs) 23:30, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
