Cause of loss?
[edit]Grant, as always this is a great article. However, it's a little bit unclear what caused the loss of the ship at present. The current text ("This attack caused no apparent damage to the Koolama, but Eggleston and his crew remained on shore, fearing follow-up attacks. At about 4.45 pm Koolama rolled onto its side in the shallow water. It was written off") doesn't make clear whether her loss was due to an accident or whether there was damage which wasn't apparent which caused her loss. --Nick Dowling 10:43, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- That has frustrated me a bit as well. I haven't looked at Loane's book for a while and I'll have to see if he is any clearer about it. It appears to me the bomb damage was such that Koolama was probably doomed, even after it reached Wyndham, since it was more than "48 hours" from a suitable shipyard, and the pumps were affected by the muddy water in Wyndham harbour.
- It would be great to know Plummer's given name and rank as well. I suspect he was from a Perth-based Militia unit but could not pin him down from the Nominal Roll or AWM databases. Loane may have more on him as well.Grant | Talk 12:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
