Effective Range?

[edit]

The table shows the effective range to be 500-something yards. I think that is the minimal range. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 10:37, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're correct. The problem seems to be in the infobox that is being used; inside the box only the term "range" is used as opposed to "minimum range" or "effective range". The article will have to explicitly bring out the difference. W. B. Wilson (talk) 16:30, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Changed some units to use the convert template.

[edit]

I changed some of the metric units to include US standard units using the convert template, as in {{convert|105|mm|in}}, which gives this result: 105 millimetres (4.1 in). In doing this, I assumed the rounded US units were the original ones, so the ranges stated are in hundreds of yards. Two significant digits gives a result in hundreds of meters. I also reworded the section on the three parts of the mortar. The template was only added in the part sourced to the Korean War small arms article. In the infobox and the part of the article sourced to the US Army technical manual, I left the metric units unchanged, as presumably the metric numbers are taken directly from the source.
