[edit]Careful selection of word choice would be helpful. In AE, at least, dual as a verb is exceedingly rare. Without access to OED I might not have been able to decipher "plan to dual the A6..."; and even then I am not sure enough of the sense to correct the entry (upgrade to a divided highway?). From the context one would assume it meant something like running alongside, yet it actually means
trans. To convert (a road) into a dual carriageway.
Or even (in the U.S.)
trans. In the motor industry: to authorize (a dealership) to sell two (or sometimes more) brands of vehicle.
