I have added this topic, with a quotation from her first autobiography (Bir Dinozorun Anıları), to the talk page of the Turkish equivalent of this article; however, I would like to raise the point here as well:
According to her the aforementioned book, she was born in 1916, reportedly on the 14th of May according to her mother’s calculations. Since she needed to prove adulthood at age 17 for various reasons, they reported her birth date as 1915 ex post facto, and later on in life, a “young leftist friend” changed her birth date to May 1 during an ID renewal process, believing she would appreciate that due to her ideologies (socialism).
I am not sure if self-reports in autobiographies are sufficient evidence for birth dates, but this may be an interesting tidbit to add to the article, if permissible. –Konanen (talk) 00:12, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Turkish article of the same person is written as tr:Mîna Urgan, and indeed her books at Yapı Kredi Publishing are published with that orthography. If there is no objection, I will move this to Mîna Urgan within 24 to 48 hours. If there are objections, I am happy to submit it to WP:RM for wider consensus. Thank you! –Konanen (talk) 00:18, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
