Proposed merge with The Linen Memorial

[edit]

The Linen Memorial does not have significant coverage in reliable sources. It should be merged with the BLP of its creator. Andrew327 17:57, 19 March 2013 (UTC) Here are two examples of the kind of sparse and underwhelming coverage that the art piece has received in reliable sources:[reply]

  • Kashmir Times (2010): "A sculptor in Belfast has also initiated the Linen Memorial. With sculptures carrying names of all kinds of victims of Ireland on small handkerchiefs."
  • Canberra Times (2004): "What's in a name? We seem to ask this quite regularly. It seems I incurred the ire of one local radio journalist for not opening the Irish linen exhibition at Craft ACT under its full title, The Irish Linen Memorial - Transformation of Tears. I don't think I gave it any name at the opening, so busy was I reflecting on the Irish Troubles. But what a good thing the artist Lycia Trouton decided not to use her original title, lightly whited-out on the invitation card: Horrific Hankies." Andrew327 17:59, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for following up on my report here [1]. I don't think the memorial's notability has been well established, and think both its article and this one are constructed on shaky sourcing and original research. Nonetheless, this is the more credible of the two articles, so redirect of the memorial here is favored, with the need for this to be seriously pared, per WP:RELIABLE, WP:NOR, WP:PEACOCK and WP:RESUME. 99.136.255.134 (talk) 19:07, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've cut a lot of unsourced description of work, repetition and unsourced non-notable venues, in efforts to have this read more like an encyclopedic entry than a personal resume. Without reliable sources this is liable to be edited further. 99.136.255.134 (talk) 13:32, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added reputable sources of reference JEToronto (talk) 03:19, 22 March 2013 (UTC) JEToronto. 23:00, 21 March 2013.[reply]
Thank you. The problem is, very few of the references accompanying the article support the project's notability. Several are primary sources, a number link to the artist's biographies, numerous links are peripheral at best, and several are broken or refer to embedded pages that I couldn't find. Most are relatively useless. The most promising link was to a CBC audio, which I couldn't get to play. To assert notability, the project needs to have received substantial coverage by multiple reliable sources. They may exist, but they haven't been added yet. 99.136.255.134 (talk) 13:00, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
