Completed cats article

[edit]
Note: This has been copy-pasted from the former Talk:Artemis (Sailor Moon) page. The rest of the merge discussion can now be found at /Artemis archive.

I have finished a new general Cats article. Because I couldn't test the images without uploading them, and couldn't upload them without giving them Fair Use rationale, and couldn't give them rationale unless the article they were to be used in existed, I have moved it out of its WP test area into the mainspace at Cats (Sailor Moon).

If no one is horrified by this, I'll finish the merging either tonight or tomorrow--that is, I'll add it to its categories, change the other pages (like this one) into redirects, place the contents of the others' talk pages on its talk page, deal with the obsoleted images, update the nav template, &c. Anyway, I think it came out really well, and would love to see comments, criticisms, and edits. --Masamage 22:14, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure you get ALL The info on these pages into it....Lego3400: The Sage of Time 03:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, and way more. Citations, too. --Masamage 03:58, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i also found diana first episode :}sailor cuteness-ready for love 17:01, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it says in the sailor luna article what act sailor luna and human luna are in pgsm so i thought i would add it to your tablesailor cuteness-ready for love 18:01, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure this particular first-appearance table is such a good idea. There's no obvious place to put it, because it covers three characters. Someone looking for when Luna first appears would go to Luna's section and check there, not to some kind of group section. (Not to mention the fact that the only group section we have has nothing to do with them as individuals.) Also, some of the data fields actually contain prose, which is generally considered a bad idea. Tables are only useful for displaying numbers. When we have a row that contains both "The Lover of Princess Kaguya sidestory" and "Sailor Moon S: The Movie," it becomes unwieldy and, in the end, too hard to read. --Masamage 18:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It only Says Kaguya Side story and S movie! Its the best i could do... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lego3400 (talkcontribs) 21:57, 25 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Right, but those aren't the real titles. I'm not saying you did something bad. :P I'm just saying I think prose is a better vehicle for what we're trying to do here. The tables were designed for people like Usagi who have A) their own article, and B) a million trillion forms. --Masamage 00:48, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

mabye if we split it for each charicter would it be better?--sailor cuteness-ready for love 16:14, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think so, yes. But in that case we don't need tables anymore because there's so little data. I'm pretty sure all this info is already in the article as prose; I think readers will easily get all the facts they're looking for. --Masamage 20:17, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

do we count the dub episodes on the table because artimis appears in dub episode 1 in a short bit giving away stuff about the moon kingdom--♥sailor cuteness-ready for love♥ 22:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes. That would be really confusing. Another good reason not to use a table here. >_> --Masamage 22:36, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music Storage

[edit]

A number of image songs featuring the cats' characters (mainly Luna) have been released.[1]

From the original anime, sung by Luna's voice actress:

  • Luna! — From the anime album Ai wa Doko ni Aru no? (Where Can Love Be Found?).
    • Dialogues — Exchanges between Luna and Usagi which introduce the songs on the same album.
  • Luna — Instrumental piece from the Sailor Moon S Movie Music Collection.

From the musicals, sung by various actors:

  • Onna no Ko no Shinsou (duet between Artemis and Luna)[2]

From the live-action series, sung by Rina Koike:

  • Oshaberi Luna (Chatty Luna) — Instrumental piece from the album DJ Moon 2.
  • Luna and Princess Sailor Moon — Instrumental piece from the album DJ Moon 3.
  • Sweet Little Resistance — Sung by Rina Koike (Sailor Luna) for the album DJ Moon 3.

Did the creppy dub luna sing any of the songs the orignal sung ♥Eternal Pink-Ready to fight for love and grace♥ 15:41, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, most of the English characters got no image songs at all--of those appearing in the first series, Mina and Darien got shafted, too. --Masamage 18:06, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

aww poor mamo-chan but I can't help thanking god that dub luna dosn't sing :} ♥Eternal Pink-Ready to fight for love and grace♥ 18:08, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eyes

[edit]

Believe it or not.. Artemis and Luna's eye colors are different in the anime then they are in the manga. Justification for an image of the manga.. Probably not strong enough... Worth note probably.Lego3400: The Sage of Time 17:20, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thats a weird thing to change ♥Eternal Pink-Ready to fight for love and grace♥ 17:54, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely doesn't justify an image, but I guess could be noted. --Masamage 18:11, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Artemis's eyes were green and Luna's were blue, dunno why they changed it... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lego3400 (talkcontribs)

Interesting Fact

[edit]

This will proove Ian Miller wrong, BTW. http://catzinc.org.nz/profiles/egypt_mau/profile.htm I got this like from a friend of mine (Nyanko Tenshi).. She says her cats are half Mau... cool, isn't it? I think we *have* to include this information somewhere.--Hitsuji Kinno 05:28, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's cool that's Egyptian. What did Miller say about it? I can't find the relevant article in his list. --Masamage 17:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
His argument is that "Mau" is spelled wrong because Egyptian vowels don't exist. (There were no vowels in Egyptian.) However I did some research and found that there were Egyptian vowels, however Ancient and Middle Egyptian didn't write them. In addition many Egyptian words were transcribed into Greek, Latin, and the later version and direct descendant--Coptic. In addition I found his reference, and gave the rest of the quote... --;; I'll delete the rest of the conversation from there... but you get the idea.
Anyhow the interesting thing about the Egyptian Mau is that it's the oldest know domestic cat and is strongly connected with the Egyptian Goddess Bast (or Bastet). The temperament and even the base colors that you can find them in sound oddly familiar... White, Grey, and the non-showing version, black. There is also a tan version... Interestingly enough Parallel Sailor Moon's cat had kind of a spotted thing going too... it wasn't a solid color. The main point is that it's the oldest form of domestic cat and connected to the Gods of Egypt. In addition since it's connected to Bastet, I researched Bastet and found out that she was later connected to the Moon and associated with it, *particularly* in Greek mythology... when she was connected to the Goddess (guess what?) Artemis. That pretty much floored me. Takeuchi-sensei does some good research.--Hitsuji Kinno 19:01, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good with computers

[edit]

Artemis, seems to be pretty good at using computers, at least in the anime. One of the examples i can think of is in the R movie. He has that model of the asteroid on Rei's computer ((Which btw is only seen then)) and was able to make a pretty good analysis. Luna doesn't seem to ever use a pc, but she seems to be able to use them to, from implied things and what we do see. Plus it's pretty funny to see a Cat using a PC XD --Lego3400: The Sage of Time 17:01, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Luna used a PC in Episode 8. She analyzed the Crystal Disk that Ami dropped. -- RattleMan 06:44, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They also show telekinesis with them too. I just can't remember if it was a movie or the manga. But I think Luna raises an object out of a glass without touching it.--Hitsuji Kinno (talk) 06:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The character of Sailor Luna was designed by Naoko Takeuchi herself.

[edit]

I saw the concept sketches on Wikimoon, but we need a complete source for wikipedia... could someone ask from Wikimoon where that image came from, down the the usual stuff like ISBN, chapter, etc? We need it for this article and also the Naoko Takeuchi article. Thanks.--Hitsuji Kinno (talk) 04:32, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd wondered about that, too. Just posted a question at their reference desk. --Masamage 06:20, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose to merge this article into Silver Millennium since the cats alone have not managed to prove notability. There will be no loss of content, the entire article would be merged as a new section within the Silver Millennium, in a similar way to the Shitennou in Dark Kingdom or the Amazoness Quartet in Dead Moon Circus. Thoughts? --LoЯd ۞pεth 03:38, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrew nomination. The role of the three cats is much larger even than the Moon Kingdom itself. --LoЯd ۞pεth 01:08, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
