Foley's views on same-sex marriage

[edit]

Following Foley's election as Labor Leader in January 2015, editor Aronzak has included a large number of references relating to Foley's reported views on same-sex marriage. Included in the references are extensive quotes of Foley's reported position and views. While these views are not in doubt and the references appear at first pass to be reputable, there is little value to the article in the extensive quotes. Accordingly, I have today removed the quotes; yet kept the citations. Please discuss here if you have issues with these edits. Thanks. Rangasyd (talk) 09:35, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree broadly with this; in fact even the quote that is left I would say is too much. It might be worth indicating that he was one of only four Labor MLCs who voted against it, though; that was widely remarked upon at the time. Frickeg (talk) 13:40, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with noting that he was one of four; I don't agree with removing the remaining quote, because it's all we've got to go on in relation to his supposedly changed stance on LGBT issues, which is arguably the most controversial thing about him. White flight

[edit]

He used those two words, and it’s stirred even labor MP’s to revolt . Cite it 101.183.21.131 (talk) 09:17, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Denial of allegations

[edit]

At the top it says he denies the allegations, but I don't think that that is enough, when in the section below it is repeated but without the denial. Luke Foley has now launched defamation proceedings in the Federal Court and is suing Ashleigh Raper for defamation. Per Luke Foley, he resigned so that he could prosecute her for defamation, not because he was guilty. I don't think that the article is currently balanced about that issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.179.159.63 (talk) 12:01, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
