Political membership
[edit]Although now Green is definately a Conservative radio personality, didn't he once run for the Liberal Party?
- Yes he did. 72.139.52.150 16:19, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
The line between conservatism and neo-liberalism is often a fine one. Lowell frequently weaves back and forth over that line. He would probably fit comfortably into any political party from Bolshevik to religious fundamentalist as long as their politics were authoritarian. SmashTheState 09:59, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, Mr. Green ran for the Ontario Liberal Party in a by-election in Ottawa Centre (December 13, 1984). He came third, behind the NDP and the Progressive Conservative candidates, with about 26% of all votes cast. To my knowledge, that was his only run for elected office. Que-Can 18:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Not bad. The article could afford to be a bit more specific in terms of dates and a little more critical too. Also his previous books should be mentioned too.. Dan Carkner 14:05, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Amusingly, I've heard him quote my Wikipedia articles, stating "Now according to Wikipedia..." while talking about Muslim extremists...I felt quoted out of context however - since he was very selective in what facts he used from the articles :\ Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 03:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
American-Canadian?
[edit]Is Mr. Green an American, a Canadian, or does he have dual (American and Canadian) citizenship? If he has applied for and received Canadian citizenship, he is PROBABY a dual citizen. Que-Can 19:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- He was born in the USA so he's an American citizen by birthright. His parents were Canadian and in the USA temporarily and he has Canadian citizenship due to being a child of Canadian citizens. As for being a dual citizen, he fits under Example 4 from Multiple citizenship#Examples. IIRC he has said that he doesn't have an American passport, although he would be eligible for one. Canada’s most honored broadcaster, one of Canada’s best selling authors
[edit]Mr. Green's bio on the radio website says "In addition to being Canada’s most honored broadcaster, Lowell Green is one of Canada’s best selling authors." It doesn't, however, provide any supporting evidence of these claims. I think the article should include this information about honours and sales, but only if it's true. Que-Can (talk) 19:51, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
your lowell green story is badly outdated and totally negative.
[edit]You can easily obtain relative information about me. Your story is totally negative--I am the most honored broadcaster in Canada--I have won countless awards including citations from Prime Ministers-both the Queen's Jubilee awards, a hospital ward is named after me, I co-founded big brothers in Ottawa, founded the help santa toy parade, founded the sunday herald now the sun, I have had a day named in my honor in Ottawa, a community builders award hangs in city hall, I have served on the boards of the united way--the drug addiction research board, the john howard society and served on west hull town council. in 61 years of broadcasting, more than 50 years of debating the most controversial issues of the day I have never once had a law suit launched against me, and had only three complaints for which I had to apologize! three serious complaints in 50 years, come on, this is an incredible achievement but your story deals with it as something to be critized for. I have helped raise millions of dollars for charity, one of my on air campaigns raised $280,000 for a little boy who needed life saving operations in the US. Lions International presented me with the Helen Keller award for this. I was one of the main organizers and promoters of the October 1995 Unity Rally in Montreal which probably saved the country, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau awarded me a special honour for my editorials that he said helped to build a better understanding between English and French. I am credited with saving the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill. I am one of the best selling authors in Canada and my latest book is nominated for a Governor Generals award and the best Wikipedia can do is talk about two complaints and two elections from the 60-'s hardly accurate and certainly not fair. If this site is not adjusted to better reflect my role in Ottawa and Canada I will have to assume the decision to continue to denigrate me is purely political!204.237.126.52 (talk) 18:00, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Lowell Green

- Mr Green -- it's hard for us to forget how you incited your listeners to phone bomb threats against an Ottawa elementary school by angrily spreading false information that they'd banned Christmas carols from their school concert in 2007. You're incredibly lucky that this article goes easier on you than you deserve. Enjoy your retirement, but please stay retired. David (talk) 16:29, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- Considering how flattering this article is to this small-time local radio personality, it's hilarious that he would come onto the talkpage to complain that it wasn't flattering enough. I sincerely hope you enjoy your retirement Mr. Green, but you need to be more self-aware. 66.7.93.14 (talk) 04:03, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
