Merge proposal

I think the street itself does not warrant an article of its own but the information could easily be integrated into this article. Madmedea 08:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I certainly see no reason whatever for there to be two articles. Merger is entirely reasonable solution. ---Charles 01:44, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree that a merge would be suitable. -Will Beback · · 01:43, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree with Charles. A merger seems completely unnecessary and the ideal proposition would be to have two articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.129.81 (talk) 04:38, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Ethnicity of mob

To the best of my recollection from other reading, there were several ethnicities represented among the mob. They weren't all white. I will make the correction here and also under Chinatown, Los Angeles when I find a cite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pithecanthropus4152 (talkcontribs) 06:05, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

The list of people convicted includes people with Hispanic surnames. I will respectfully add that "white" is not an ethnicity. 66.162.249.170 (talk) 01:37, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

Chinese massacre of 1871 (Los Angeles)Chinese massacre of 1871 – Restore title as it was before an editor appended an unnecessary parenthetical disambuguator. We can also talk about case of "massacre" if people want to, as I just undid the undiscussed recent move to uppercase. A glance at books suggests that lowercase is common. Dicklyon (talk) 04:25, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Re-Write of the Riot and Massacre section

The First paragraph of the Riot and Massacre section is written so poorly that any rational person will question the reality of this entire article. The writing of that paragraph is so obviously biased in an attempt to make 'white' people look bad that it almost appears that this whole article is just a propaganda piece. I would suggest changing it as follows:

"In and environment of increasing discrimination against the Chinese people living in California, the massacre was triggered by the killing of Robert Thompson, a local rancher, who was caught in the cross-fire during a gun battle between two Chinese factions."

Also, shouldn't this type of statement be in a "Background" type section, not in the main event section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.29.4.43 (talkcontribs) 14:42, October 24, 2017 (UTC)
