Note that the phylogeny shown in the Wikipedia article concerning this species, Longidorus africanus, as well as the Wikipedia articles regarding 2 other Longidorus species, to wit: L maximus and L sylphus, include these species and all other members of the Longidoridae family within the class Secerentea, whereas the Wikipedia articles concerning the genus Longidorus and the family Longidoridae show these as within the class Enoplea. I am inclined toward the view that Enoplea is the correct class, but will do further research before changing the phylogeny shown in these 3 articles.Ray Glock-Grueneich (talk) 01:03, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
The conclusion of the above-remark is further buttressed by the fact that this article and the other 2 articles mentioned ("Longidorus maximus" and "Longidorus sylphus") list the order Dorylaimida in their phylogeny, as do the articles of which I am not critical ("Longidorus" and "Longidoridae"). However, the Wikipedia article "Dorylaimida" asserts that this order is within class Enoplea, and not class Secernentea. More impressive than mere comparison of various Wikipedia articles which do not cite authority for their phylogeny is the fact that an article by Palomares-Rius, Cantalapiedra-Navarrete, Archidona-Yuste, Blok and Castillo, published 2017 Feb 2, entitled "Mitochondrial genome diversity in datter and needle nematodes (Nematoda: Longidoridae)", expressly includes the family Longidoridae in the order Dorylaimida, and the latter within the class Enoplea. Accordingly, at this point I feel confident, albeit I am but a nonscientist layman, in changing class "Secernentea" (misspelled in my preceding remark) and substituting class "Enoplea" for it.Ray Glock-Grueneich (talk) 06:07, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
The subclass Diplogasteria is within the class Secernentea, as indicated in the Wikipedia article "List of Nematode Families." For the reasons shown in the preceding 2 comments, subclass Dorylaimia should be substituted for subclass Diplogasteria as the intermediate clade between the order Dorylaimida and the class Enoplea, in this and the 2 related articles concerning Longidoris maximus and Longidoris sylphus.Ray Glock-Grueneich (talk) 15:47, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
