Inaccurate Graphic of Proposed Routes
[edit]This graphic is junk. But worse, its not accurate. It is missing the most prominent Long Island bridge proposal linking I-287 with Oyster Bay. There is no line of any color leaving I-287 at Rye, NY. I would propose either updating the graphic to reflect actual proposal locations, or removing the graphic altogether. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.107.16.119 (talk) 14:51, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
Bronx-White Plains Expressway?
[edit]What on earth is the "Bronx-White Plains Expressway"? This piped link points to New York State Route 125. I drive that route every day; it's mostly 2-lane back roads. There's nothing Expressway about it. -- RoySmith (talk) 05:03, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- The Heathcoate Bypass, which includes NY 125, was intended to be part of the formerly proposed Bronx-White Plains Expressway[1]. It's actually NY 101, a.k.a. the Western Nassau Expressway[2] that was proposed to be used as a Long Island Sound Crossing, and would've terminated at the Bronx-White Plains Expressway on the north end. DanTD 16:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Cool! I never heard of this! Could you send me an article on that? Jgcarter 23:16, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- I always wondered what Heathcoate Bypass was all about. It's so out of place with the rest of the streets around there. -- RoySmith (talk) 23:20, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
East End bridges were planned by LIRR
[edit]The proposals for a bridge on the east end of Long Island actually go much further back than this. In fact they originated with the Long Island Railroad during the late-19th Century. ----DanTD 16:29, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Tunnel
[edit]Should me mention the currently proposed 16-mile tunnel between Oyster Bay, NY and Rye, NY? Superm401 - Talk 19:02, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- A tunnel has been proposed before, most notably during the 1990's. ----DanTD (talk) 18:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Requested Move
[edit]I want to move this article to a more sensible title, but I don't know what. I just started Long Island Sound link, unaware of this article. "Long Island Crossing" is a horrendous title. It doesn't cross Long Island; it crosses Long Island Sound. There's a huge difference.
Please discuss what title works best; then an admin can perform a history merge. Shalom (Hello • Peace) 03:14, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
I wrote the following at Wikipedia:Requested moves:
- Long Island Crossing → Long Island Sound link —(Discuss)— I created Long Island Sound link being unaware that an article on this subject already existed at Long Island Crossing. My sources on Google show that "Long Island Crossing" is sometimes used, but that title seems ambiguous to me and should be replaced by Long Island Sound link (my choice), Long Island Cross Sound Link (the exact term used in the current proposal), or something similar to indicate that the Long Island Sound is being crossed (as oppposed to, say, the Cross Island Parkway, where the island itself is being crossed. —Shalom (Hello • Peace) 03:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC) Shalom (Hello • Peace) 03:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Um, I think this was a very bad idea. What we've got now is two virtually identical copies of the same article under two titles, which can only lead to confusion. Would you mind if I deleted Long Island Sound link, at least until a decision is made on the rename? -- RoySmith (talk) 04:02, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Deleting this article is a bit drastic. Relocation is worth considering. I even like Shalom's idea of renaming the Long Island Sound link article. ----DanTD (talk) 18:29, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- We can't have BOTH articles, that doesn't make any sense. A move might have been logical, but now that we have both, one of them really needs to be deleted. See Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Long_Island_Crossing, and continue the discussion there, please. -- RoySmith (talk) 19:08, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- This is a Requested Move issue, not a deletion issue. It is routine to merge duplicate articles as part of a move request; the deletion process should be used when you want to get rid of both copies. Gene Nygaard (talk) 16:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Botched mixup by WP:AfD
[edit]AfD has dealt with this Requested move issue, but very poorly. Now we have a talk page at one name and an article at a different name. And it still remains listed at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Gene Nygaard (talk) 16:52, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed. Thanks for pointing this out. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
