Russian edit war

[edit]

There seem sto be an edit war going on in the article regarding the name in Russian. Perhaps someone could write the name out in cyrillic here. We can try to agree on that and then work out the spelling in the Roman alphabet. --Aranae (talk) 16:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The name is длинноухий тушканчик. Not шушпанчик, as your average Russian internet troll would put it. Dunno how you would spell in Roman, according to English pronunciation (in which case it would be, according to http://say.expressivo.com/, something like “Dleenna-oohi tooshcancheek”, heh), or according to GOST 16876-71: dlinnoukhijj tushkanchik. — 194.44.149.244 (talk) 17:04, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conservation disparity?

[edit]

What accounts for the rather large disparity between the IUCN and EDGE classifications? Perhaps it should be addressed in the article for the sake of clarity. Chick Bowen 15:48, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In addition there is a disparity between the IUCN status listed here and that mentioned in the main jerboa article, where it is said that they are listed as EN. One article or the other should probably be fixed.Mad2Physicist (talk) 22:42, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Endangered or Least Concern ?

[edit]

It says here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthpicturegalleries/5966251/The-weirdest-animals-on-Planet-Earth.html?image=6 that it is in risk of extinction Yet on the main Wiki page it is Least concern —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.244.105.40 (talk) 21:11, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Red List link [1] explains why its conservation status was changed in the 2008 publication. --Aranae (talk) 21:19, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
