I think that the Straits Convention, 1841 showed the victory of Lord Palmerston.After the crisis of 1839-1840, about the Mehemet Ali and the Ottoman Empire, Britain and Palmerston were now in a great position to dominance in the Eastern question.Palmerston took this advantage to put the end of the Treaty of Unkiar-Skelessi,reducing the influence and replace the position of Russia in Eastern question.As Nicholas I was forced to accepted the treaty terms of

I agree, but to mention Palmerston the 'Negotiations' section of the article should be sorted out - at the moment it deals entirely with the 1833 treaty and tells nothing about the 1839-41 situation in Turkey and Europe.81.106.79.84 (talk) 13:01, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
