Which Steiner?
[edit]Golomek's Encyclopedia of Chess says Prins was first at Amsterdam 1951 ahead of Steiner, Pilnik, and Bernstein. Herman Pilnik and Ossip Bernstein are easy to disambiguate, but which Steiner? It could be Herman Steiner or Lajos Steiner. Quale 02:34, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Neiter Steiner article mentions Amsterdam 1951. Bubba73 (talk), 00:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I have no record of an Amsterdam 1951 tournament, but my version of Golombek says it's Madrid 1951 that we're talking about here, so the anwer is Herman Steiner, as given by Sunnucks, page 466. Brittle heaven (talk) 07:49, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for following up on this, even 2 years later! I don't have Golombek handy at the moment (and who was this "Golemek" I wrote about in 2007 ;), but clearly you have the location and the player right. Quale (talk) 15:53, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
