Venue and Location

[edit]

A wrestling site i frequently visit released the venue and date for Lockdown 2009. It is scheduled to take place at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA

Here is the link: Location & Venue For TNA Lockdown 2009 Revealed (N00dle17 (talk) 05:06, 16 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I don't know. The site doesn't say where they got this info from. TJ Spyke 05:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed but this website has always been very very reliable, but i respect that you want a true source. I will try to find one

Location & Venue for TNA Lockdown 2009
This is the only other site I can find but again it didn't really have a true source besides the guy who wrote it.

(N00dle17 (talk) 05:27, 16 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

My personal opinion is that we should wait for some proof of where it's being held (one example would be TNA announcing the location or the arena to announce it. We've had this happen with WWE PPV's sometimes, the arena will announce on it's website that it's hosting a PPV before WWE announces it). TJ Spyke 05:46, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then but then the Liacouras Center wiki site will have to be changed because it says that Lockdown 2009 is going to be there.

(N00dle17 (talk) 05:48, 16 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

The only sites that would be acceptable in the case of naming the arena and city for the event would be Figure Four, TNA, and PWTorch. Those are the only reliable sources that would work for this situation.--WillC 05:53, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Danny Bonaduce to wrestle at TNA Lockdown

[edit]

TNAWrestling.com posted the following (http://www.tnawrestling.com/content/view/1349/84/):

TNA Wrestling announced today that Philadelphia-based disc jockey Danny Bonaduce will have his first pro wrestling match on Sunday, April 19, at Lockdown, inside the lethal six-sides of steel.

Danny Bonaduce, the former wise-cracking son on the 1970s television series The Partridge Family, is the morning drive DJ on WYSP (94.1 FM) in Philadelphia.

TNA Wrestling executives would not comment on who Danny Bonaduce's opponent will be, but confirmed that the TNA Wrestling Superstar will be in Philadelphia next Friday, March 20, for the official Contract Signing, to be held on-air during Danny Bonaduce's radio show. TNAFan09 (talk) 18:55, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too bad TNA lied. It will not be his first match (he wrestled a dark match at Spring Stampede 1994). TJ Spyke 20:07, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fifth Lockdown

[edit]

I don't think its the fifth lockdown shouldn't it be the six [[User:Supermike|Supermike] (talk) 1 —Preceding undated comment added 22:48, 10 March 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Why would it be the sixth? 2005=1 2006=2 2007=3 2008=4 and 2009=5. BTW can you please sign your post and help make the Sign Bots life a little easier. SuperSilver901 22:53, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He's just being a troll. He is going around on talkpages doing this. He also thinks the first occurrence of an event is its first anniversary (see Talk:WrestleMania XXV). He is just trying to be an annoyance. TJ Spyke 22:55, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When did I ever say that TJ Spyke what I said was WM25 was not WM24 and that there has been 25 year of WM your the one who thinks the first occurrence of an event is its first anniversary but hey you also don't even know when the first WM happen I do —Preceding unsigned comment added by Supermike (talkcontribs) 08:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually supermike, you don't. You seem to think that the first time an event happens is its first anniversary (you keep saying that WrestleMania XXV is the 25th anniversary, which is just wrong) and you keep on trying to invent your own definition of anniversary. Even after multiple editors corrected you, you still insisted that we were wrong for saying WrestleMania XXV is the 24th anniversary of WrestleMania. TJ Spyke 23:25, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You know TJ, you're wasting your time replying to Supermike because he will keep debating it and wont bother looking at the definition. Anyways we really shouldn't be talking about Wrestlemania on the Lockdown talk page. --SuperSilver901 17:25, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Foley vs. Sting

[edit]

Should we wait for TNA to announce this, rather than going with iN DEMAND's preview - or are we happy with this as a source? Pigs Might Fly Music (talk) 08:28, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In Demand has always been a good source as long as it officially announces it. Plus the poster also advertises it and the arena hosting said event is advertising the match. Three different sources.--WillC 09:17, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tag titles

[edit]

It doesn't matter what TNA calls the belt, the belt is NOT called the IWGP World Tag Team Championship and that is not what NJPW (the promotion that owns the belt) calls it. We don't list the IWGP 3rd Belt Championship as the "IWGP World Heavyweight Championship" even though that is what TNA called it. I think it should be changed back and I will not revert anyone who fixes this by the incorrect "World" for the listing. In fact, I encourage it since it would be fixing the article. TJ Spyke 19:14, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just billing it as what it is called today. Like when the WWE was the WWF. We don't change all the old WWF Championship defences to WWE Championship today. IWGP often refer to the title as a World Tag title, since TNA is billing the match as World Tag title vs World tag title, to be as accurate as possible, I was naming it the IWGP World Tag Team Championship.--WillC---Joe's gonna kill you!!!) 21:57, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
TNA doesn't have the authority to name others belts. If TNA called it the "TNA Tag Pudding Championship", would you insist we list it as that? As for for NJPW call the belts, their English site doesn't mention the title (they only have the singles belts) and I can't read Japanese. TJ Spyke 22:19, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We are supposed to be accurate as possible, the belt is clearly a World Tag Team Championship and IWGP have referred to the belt as a World Title. All it is a simple word that TNA are using to sell tickets and make it seem more important. What is the problem? IGWP have given TNA the clear to use the belt however they see fit for the time being. I would see that TNA have the power to name it whatever they want at the moment. Though I don't have a source they have the power, just going by that they have two of IWGP's belts and are defending them both, possibly, at Lockdown.--WillC---Joe's gonna kill you!!!) 02:00, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. All of the IWGP belts are most often referred to just as their specific name and purpose. Heavyweight Title, Tag Team Title, Jr Heavyweight Title etc. Sure to some they are world recognized but NJPW doesn't refer to them with World in it. That's a TNA thing. Should we also list the Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title as Jr Tag Team Title? And note how New Japan wouldn't make such a stupid booking decision to include a team with a heavyweight(LAX, Hernandez) in a match for a Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Title? Or did TNA just decide to not use the term Jr Heavyweight to make it seem like it's a 2nd tier tag title in NJPW? Yawn. TonyFreakinAlmeida (talk) 17:23, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah we should. Plus NJPW have placed a somewhat near Crusiweright as the champion before. Plus since TNA are billing it as the Jr titles, the heavyweight wouldn't mean anything here in the US.--WillC 04:10, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah but placing a NEAR cruiserweight is much different than placing an obvious heavyweight in a position to hold a Jr Heavyweight title. And yes..the word heavyweight would make a difference in the name because without it they're stating it as just a second tier tag title. TonyFreakinAlmeida (talk) 21:35, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Team Angle vs Team Jarrett

[edit]

I got the spoilers..it said that Jarret told Styles to be the team leader but he refused and asked Jarret to be the leader..he accepted! so i changed it..--Ruthless-paki (talk) 21:09, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And there is no reliable source for spoilers, so it has been reverted. TJ Spyke 21:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you allowed figure4 online?--Ruthless-paki (talk) 21:47, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In general yes, but not for spoiler reports. Same thing with other sites. Meltzer does publish what others send in, but he can't verify if the reports are accurate and neither can we. That is why even for taped shows we wait until they air somewhere in the world (which is why SmackDown stuff is usually add Thursday night or Friday morning since it airs in Australia on Friday afternoons there, which is Thursday night in the US).
