Local Government Acts of 2013

[edit]

I have added an update tag as this article references the Local Government Ordance of 2001 but does not mention any of the Local Government Acts of 2013 (described & compared here http://www.crcp.org.pk/images/PDF/Publications/LG_Acts_in_Pakistan_CRCP.pdf). It seems like this information would be relevant to the article. An article on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2013 does exist.Avg W (talk) 04:41, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Level

[edit]
"There are 129 district councils across the four provinces, 619 urban councils made up of one city district, four metropolitan corporations, 13 municipal corporations, 96 municipal committees, 148 town councils, 360 urban union committees, and 1,925 rural councils."

This paragraph makes mention of these units/divisions after the district councils, but does not mention what level these exist at. I assume that the city districts (of which there appear to be eight, not one) are at the level of districts, but the rest is just confusing. Are they tehsil and union council levels? Do they overlay tehsil and union council divisions? I've recently been taking in interest in this, because the English language articles of local governance in Pakistan simply do not make since when taken together. I'm seeing the sourcing, but this piece appears to contradict itself. The 619 figure is mentioned in the opening, but the actual table in the piece does not appear to have any formulation of figures that adds up to 619. In fact, the second page has a section that reads:
"There are 2,055 urban councils made up of one city district, four metropolitan corporations, 24 municipal corporations, 280 municipal committees, 148 town councils and 1,598 union committees."
Can anyone make sense of this? Everything in this article needs to make clear distinctions between levels: district, town & local. Criticalthinker (talk) 11:33, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
