Lede

[edit]
settled
  • Lede should mention that the station was announced in 1996. starship
    • Done.
  • Consider adding the companies that constructed the station to the lede. starship
    • Truthfully I rather not, because unless the companies did something very outstanding or very bad with the project, they aren't worthy to be included.
  • I feel that more can be added to the lede regarding Memoirs of the Past and Woven Field, as the lede should reflect the body and the body extensively discusses these. starship

Infobox

[edit]
  • Please, to the best of your ability, source everything in the infobox. starship
  • Operated by SBS Transit Ltd (ComfortDelGro Corporation. There needs to be content in the body about this. starship
  • Platforms 4 (2 island platforms) / Tracks 4 / Platform levels 2 - needs sources or should not be there. starship
  • Electrified Yes - according to Template:Infobox_station, the electrified parameter is part of History and is supposed to specify the Date station was electrified, if not previously at date of opening. It's not for 'Yes' or 'No'. starship

Images

[edit]
  • We have an image of the NEL platform but do not show File:Little India MRT Station DTL.jpg. Please find somewhere to insert this photo. starship
    • There's already a photo of the DTL platforms at the DTL artwork section Woven Field. Usually for the history I would prioritise having an image of the construction site.
      • The Details section has no image and does mention the DTL. starship

History

  • In preliminary studies for the North East line (NEL) in 1986, it was planned for the line to serve - who is "it"? Who planned? starship
    • I just reworded the sentence in another manner.
  • The line was not considered financially viable in 1989 - considered by who? starship
    • Government of Singapore
  • It was initially planned to close Buffalo Lane - when? starship
    • Source did not say.
  • the Moulmein Tekka Residents' Committee raised concerns of road congestion - when? starship
    • Source did not say.
  • a metal decking was constructed to keep the road open - when? starship
    • Source did not say.
  • frontal segmental jacking method - is there any wikilink for this that can explain what this is? starship
    • No
  • open-face tunnelling method - is there any wikilink for this that can explain what this is? starship
    • No
  • required protection against settlement - any explanation, elaboration or wikilink for this? starship
  • manually mined - any explanation, elaboration or wikilink for this? starship
    • It's just... manually mined?
  • Potential content to be added - any relation to the 2013 Little India riot? For example, this article says a rioter continued his streak of creating chaos and unrest by inciting others to help carry a small metal rack and ram it against a side wall of the Little India MRT station. starship
  • The line was not considered financially viable by the Government of Singapore in 1989 - I think there needs to be more explanation/elaboration. The source does say Government has decided in principle to extend the MRT ... timing of construction ... depend on the development of housing estates in the north-east, because unless there is sufficient demand. starship
  • Construction of the station was scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2009 with a targeted completion date of 2015. can be paraphrased more. I found the paraphrasing in the article inconsistent, certainly there were good attempts at paraphrasing in the article, but some parts mirror the sources too closely. I fixed some of those, but I shouldn't fix everything. starship
  • The source [1] corroborates that NEL started in June 2005, but the exact date of 20 June is not stated. Perhaps one of the following sources does back it up but I am not sure at the moment. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] starship
  • The DTL station opened on 27 December 2015. - the two references cited ([7] and [8]) precede 27 December 2015. They are predicting a future event, not confirming that it occurred. I suggest you remove these sources and instead use a source from 27 December 2015 or later (such as this by Railway Gazette International or this by The Straits Times). starship

  • Any way to include the nearby Farrer Park Field? starship
    • Well it's not stated in source. So no.
      • Which source are you referring to? This source that does mention Farrer Park Field? starship
        • Oh, but well, I don't consider it important to add as a landmark.
  • Wider fare gates allow easier access - wider gates for Downtown Line only? Or for both lines? starship
    • There is for the NEL but the book didn't really state outright there are also wider faregates for the NEL.
      • I found that the SBS source said both lines. starship
  • If you are using this source, you might as well mention that there are six exits: A to F. starship

Public artwork

[edit]
Settled
  • Chandra's shift to creating accessible public art was a new experience, challenging him to balance his artistic voice with contemporary concerns. He eventually embraced the nature of public art, finding enjoyment in working with concepts integral to people's lives and culture - I think we can remove this sentence. It's more about Chandra and less about the train station. starship
    • Removed.
  • Inspired by Hindu icons, Chandrasekaran's art explores themes such as the human body, birth, sexuality, self-knowledge, and the cosmos. and later This third eye is also a motif throughout Chandrasekaran's work at Little India station, and he hoped to simplify Indian icons (or "archetypes" – his preferred term) for the modern era. I think these can be removed, the content focuses on Chandrasekaran's previous/other art instead of Memoirs of the Past. The bronze kolam patterns represent Lord Shiva's third eye, symbolizing wisdom and insight, said Chandrasekaran is OK, should be kept. starship
  • Drawing inspiration from Rajasthani folk art, which he studied during his postgraduate program in India, Chandrasekaran's paintings at Little India feature raw, simple lines and distorted proportions, blending child-like charm with stylized abstraction - can be paraphrased more. I found the paraphrasing in the article inconsistent, certainly there were good attempts at paraphrasing in the article, but some parts mirror the sources too closely. I fixed some of those, but I shouldn't fix everything.

General comments

[edit]
  • I've added some attributions for statements or quotes. My take is that if our source does not state a fact in their own voice but instead quotes another entity, then we cannot state this fact in wiki-voice and should also quote that entity. starship
