Incorrect terminology
[edit]I believe this is term is erroneous and requires further verification ( the current references are dead or not relevant to the subject ). There is often confusion between the term "litmus test" and "acid test". The former refers to a test that verifies the PH of a substance and has no metaphoric denotative qualities. The latter refers to a test that verifies the purity of gold and has a metaphoric correlative in the purity or quality of an idea.
