Untitled

[edit]

Good start. I suggest that you include the author's name and the date (if possible) in each entry. Some authors have written poems with the same title. See List of books by title: A for examples. GUllman 20:59, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Adding names and dates makes the list harder to read. Can't people just click on the link to find out the author and date? - 3:36, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)
I think as a list, it is more useful to have these facts included. I also prefer the fact it makes it consistent the list of books. Angela 22:43, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Title format?

[edit]

Shouldn't these poem titles be in quotation marks, rather than italicized? --Midnightdreary 02:14, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt it. I haven't seen a rule for formatting poem titles lately, but looking at a selection of individual poem pages shows that they all use italics and not quotes. Tartan 23:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You mean besides WP:MOS-T? I very rarely see poems in italics, even on Wikipedia. I would suggest we make the change so that we're following not only Wikipedia style but also proper English language conventions. --Midnightdreary 15:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should be in quotes. Maybe I'll have time later to do it. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:51, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Should it depend on whether the poem is considered a major or minor work? – Reidgreg (talk) 13:17, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request for disambiguation page

[edit]

Could someone who knows the procedure please create a disambiguation page for 'Poems'? The page should contain links to two very different destinations:

1. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_poems - the current redirection

2. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Poems_syndrome - an extremely debilitating medical condition

I make this request because the word 'syndrome' is not necessarily used to qualify the medical condition. Frequently the acronym 'POEMS' alone is used. Thanks, Chris Scott189.93.202.54 (talk) 14:59, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i added POEMS syndrome to the poems disambig page. that should suffice.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 18:03, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suitability

[edit]

Is this a useful page to have? It doesn't seem to have been given much attention for a long time, and I don't know about the utility of such a generalised list that will likely never list more than a millionth of published poems. Should perhaps it be broken into categories or letter pages or something? Though even then it simply seems a project too large for a simple list. AllenY99 (talk) 05:32, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
