Have always known it locally as Royden House. Suspect this might be a misspelling or typo on the English Heritage site.
Other sources show what I believe to be the correct spelling e.g. Pevsner (Buildings of England - Cheshire, page 91). Probably needs further investigation to assert the correct spelling with 100% confidence. I just mention it now as I am about to add a photo of the building which I had previously uploaded in 2013 as "Royden House". Cheers Rept0n1x (talk) 21:21, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure you are correct and that the entry in the NHLE is a typo. This is pretty much confirmed here. I've changed the spelling in the list, and will inform English Heritage about the error (I have a contact there). And many thanks for adding all those photos; more please! Cheers. --Peter I. Hello again Peter and thank you very much for taking the time to investigate this further, also for correcting the typo in the article and informing English Heritage. Also I would like to take the opportunity to express my thanks for all of the hard work you have done for some considerable time now in creating the Listed buildings articles around the region. I have found the articles very interesting and really learnt a lot from them (not least a fair bit of architectural terminology!). Also for thank you for your work on the DYKs and other articles you have contributed to as well.
As for the photos, yes I should have a few more to add. Although I tend to contribute mostly to Commons rather than the English Wikipedia, I made an exception to directly edit the Listed buildings in Birkenhead article. This was because it is just so easy for me to snap many of the buildings which are right on my doorstep. In fact I was surprised to see how many notable buildings I had not even considered photographing until now and also how many we did not have on Commons.
I will be darting back off to my usual Commons work soon, but before I do that I hope to add a few more pictures here. One good thing about winter is that the bare trees allow the photographing of buildings that will be obscured later in the year. Some buildings on the list seem difficult to snap without the owner's permissions (mainly private residences) since they are surrounded by hedges/fences/walls etc. and therefore don't admit a clear view from a public area. It is therefore unlikely that I will be able to snap some of them on my casual strolls. Having said that, quite a few of the remaining buildings in the article still in need of a photo are indeed quite possible to snap from the street so I will certainly try and bag a few more during my next few strolls. Many thanks for your comments. Please continue your work on Commons; it is an invaluable source for images to be used on WP. I too have learnt a lot in compiling these lists, etc. I do appreciate the difficulty in obtaining images for all the listed buildings (from my own experience) and agree that when the leaves are off the trees we have the best opportunities to see the buildings behind. Cheers. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 20:02, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again Peter, will do. Also if I can find the time to add some more images to the Listed Building articles in future, I certainly will do that. As always, it is just a case of trying to set aside a bit of what seems like an ever-dwindling amount of free spare time to sit down and edit. So my editing pattern is often a bit erratic e.g. weeks and/or months away sometimes followed by a quick spate of edits etc. But I will carry on with the walking and photographing as usual (for health and fitness reasons and the fact it is very enjoyable).
