Merger proposal

[edit]

I think we should merge Fastest recorded tennis serves over here, since these fastest serves are all from the open era anyway. The merging of tennis records related articles was recently discussed extensively at the project tennis: merging tennis record articles. We have to start somewhere and get this done. We can worry about possibly renaming these articles later on. MakeSense64 (talk) 08:42, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup task

[edit]

We need to write a lead section for this article (have tagged it), but we better wait until we have merged and cleaned up.
I thinking about removing the overly long (and almost unreadable) section that splits out the records by player. This really belongs in these individual players' articles, and is probably already there. MakeSense64 (talk) 08:46, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. For almost all singles players, record boxes have already been added to their individual articles. Only Hewitt, Ivanisevic and Woodbridge don't have these boxes, so if you would like to remove the list of records from the rest of these players (Federer, Sampras, Borg, Nadal, Agassi, etc.), you can do so. Furthermore, it would probably be great to link each player's name to their "Records" section in their article, rather than the article in general. —Bloom6132 (talk) 16:03, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose to merge Tennis players with most titles since 1968 over here, since this belongs to the open era records. MakeSense64 (talk) 08:57, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We could probably rename Tennis players with most titles since 1968 to "[List of] open era tennis players with most titles." After deleting all the individual player records from this article, we could then merge the Most titles at a single tournament section with the aforementioned list. The "Longest match winning streaks during the open era (all surfaces)" section in this article can be deleted straight away without having to be transferred to any other article, since it already features in the ATP World Tour records article. However, the combined year-end championship titles section should be transferred, since the one on ATP World Tour records accounts for only the Grand Prix/ATP World Tour Finals and no WCT. Male player. Male player. Male player.

[edit]

Holy cow, you don't need to say "Male" or "Female" in a sentence under a male or female section. It's sheer lunacy.
