Isn't it awkward that both this page and that category page exist independently on Wikipedia without at least linking to each other? I would go as far as to suggest they are redundant and one should be deleted.

Some entries include links to orchestras' home pages, but not all. Should we add links to home pages for all orchestras or remove all such links, provided they appear on the orchestras' individual wiki pages?--S.Camus 20:25, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1. See WP:CLN. 2. I've removed the links, see thread below. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Should this list be a list of ALL the orchestras or include only the most important and relevant ones? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karljoos (talkcontribs) 01:15, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That depends on who you ask. The editors who maintain the US and worldwide lists, restrict the contents to "blue-links only" (for various reasons). I've removed the ELs and added {{fact}} tags here (See thread below), to prevent a similar purging, because I believe redlinks are healthy on a list of this topic-type (ie not blatantly commercial, and not infinite/gigantic in scope). -- Quiddity (talk) 18:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The list is full of chamber/concert orchestras and is therefore not a list of symphony orchestras as the articles title implies. Symphony Orchestras are larger and have a different make up to smaller chamber and concert orchestras. See wikis own article with regard to orchestras. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.205.89.188 (talk) 17:42, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance in removing the chamber/concert orchestras would be warmly appreciated. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

EL cleanup

[edit]

See this diff for a large cleanup of embedded official/external links. (Per WP:EL and various other guides). However those links could be handy for finding RSs to add, and for adding to the orchestra's articles when created. Hence noting here for reference. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vatican

[edit]

There is no Vatican Orchestra. Usually concert in Vatican City are played by the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI (Italian radio Orchestra). Lele giannoni (talk) 14:35, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Are redlinks allowed here? In most other list articles redlinks are not allowed. What's the consensus here? Contact Basemetal here 10:09, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Basemetal 16:03, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:CSC - red links are definitely allowed in list articles, but should ideally be referenced. See also the other two primary symphony orchestra lists (List of symphony orchestras in the United States and List of symphony orchestras). –Quiddity (talk) 21:32, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
