ELAC notice

[edit]

Hi, with aims to improve Wikipedia, your page has been submitted to the Extra-Long Article Committee for page division. It is strongly suggested that the regular users here divide the article up into separate pages. If this does not occur in the coming weeks, this page will then be scheduled for committee involvement. Please comment at ELAC talk with concerns. Thanks: --Sadi Carnot 16:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Solving the length problem

[edit]

I suggest that this article is split into 4 sections. The boundaries are defined below. Feel free to edit or change these to a more definitive set.

  • 1-100:601-700
  • 701-800:1201-1300
  • 1301-1400:2001-2100
  • 2101-2200:2901-3000

This splitting of the article will remove the problems that it has with its length

Good plan; however, I removed the ELAC tag to give the project a break. See List of states in the Holy Roman Empire for a good example of break-up. Thanks: --Sadi Carnot 14:35, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

Will complete split mentioned above in the next couple of weeks. Mbisanz (talk) 06:35, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is suggested that long articles be split into smaller articles to form a series. This has already been done as you might have noticed with the navbox on the right-hand side of the article. Splitting this article up further would only serve to make what is already a big navbox even larger and would hinder the navigability of the list. What could be done however is to finish removing all of the links to the OPSI website from within the main body of the list. That does save quite a bit of size. If you look above my comment, Rvwedd laid out a plan to split it into 4 aritcles. The Navbox would stay the same, since anyone clicking on this year in the navbox would end up at a disambig page with 4 links to the split up articles. Mbisanz (talk) 00:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
