Economic Freedom of the World Index
[edit]why is the USA listed twice? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paranoid Android1208 (talk • contribs) 13:33, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
Wrong data used
[edit]The country list for the Fraser ranking is wrong. The list uses the "human freedom index" ranking from Fraser, instead of the Economic Freedom of the World index from Fraser. Here u can see the two different reports: https://www.fraserinstitute.org/studies/economic-freedom For example: in the economic freedom index of fraser the US is ranked 6th, but now it seems that it is ranked 18th. Could someone change this?

[edit]Why the huge discrepancy with Ireland?
My goodness, two reports by political groups being trumpeted as encyclopedic data without any scientific or independent sources at all. I recommend deleting this whole stinking pile. 2001:470:1F04:3DF:0:0:0:2 (talk) 08:48, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
What are you on about? Both indices have their own very precise and specific measurements to rate economic freedom. Don't be an idiot. --70.74.198.46 (talk) 18:03, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
Why not full list?
[edit]The list shows top countries. Won't some be interested in others? Or bottom? I notice the same thing on related lists; is this policy?Septimus.stevens (talk) 05:15, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Because it's a pain in the a$$ to type in the data for 190+ countries, which is why we link the full list at the top. If you want to enter it, here's the list: https://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/efw/efw2017/efw-2017-chapter-1.pdf — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.118.53.181 (talk) 22:39, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Should this article be marked for deletion?
[edit]The lists provided on this page have very little veracity if any at all. Methodology for determining economic freedom is very ambiguous, as is the term "economic freedom" itself. Both the Fraser Institute and the Heritage Foundation are right-libertarian think tanks that are notorious for polling and statistical bias purpose-made for serving libertarian and otherwise right-wing political aims. The Heritage Foundation, for example, is a noted climate change denial group according to their own Wikipedia article. Shouldn't the article have another perspective? Seems to me two lists, both from right-libertarian think tanks, violates WP:NPOV and is unencyclopedic. If another point of view cannot be added, the article should be marked for deletion. 141.126.95.5 (talk) 07:16, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, it begs discussion of what exactly economic freedom is. There are nations here with positive scores that practice de facto slavery. Are these people economically free? 2601:1C2:700:2160:597:D6C7:5CF:8EE3 (talk) 02:46, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
