Is being picky about which ship is technically in the USN necessary?

Everywhere else on the internet and in most history books, including on wikipedia, the USS Enterprise CV-6 is considered to be the 7th US ship to have that name. The CV-80 is always listed as being the 9th. Even if the US Navy wasn't given a huge budget early on and many ships operated either unofficially or as privateers, pretty much everything thing else except this article considers the first two Enterprises to be US Navy ships. 24.42.219.124 (talk) 02:27, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
