The assault on the List of sexual slang
[edit]The following letter has many subheadings. Please place replies at the end of the letter (and not within it), as that is where I have signed it. Otherwise, it could get confusing. Thank you.
Two users in particular The Literate Engineer & Voice of All(MTG) have apparently made it their duty to get rid of the list and they have been using underhanded tactics in an attempt to do so in any way they can.
But word is getting out, and supporters of the list are starting to rally against them and protect the list (via rerverting vandalism, countering their tactics, etc.).
The results of the 18 October AfD:
[edit]- Keep & clean = 3
- Keep, no clean = 11
- Delete = 2
The anonymous clean-up notice
[edit]The following anonymous clean-up notice was posted to the list on November 1st:
23:44, 1 November 2005 68.17.227.41
The notice was placed without group consensus, and there was no edit comment. Pretty sneaky.
This was the user's only edit. Nothing before or after. A sock-puppet.
The results of the 10 November Afd
[edit]- Keep & clean up =3 votes
- Keep, with no mention of clean up =7 votes
- Delete = 4 votes (including the nomination)
That's 10 votes to keep, out of which 3 voted to clean up. Seven out of ten clearly voiced their desire to retain the list without deleting its entries.
Dishonest report of Afd results
[edit]Voice of All(MTG) reported the results as " ", and he and The Literate Engineer used that as the basis to erase the content of the list, which they did in successive edits.
Non-consensual list move
[edit]During the 10 November AfD discussion, Voice of All(MTG) moved the list to the new article name sexual slang, citing the introduction at the top of the list as the basis for the move ("it is more than a list"). Several users then used the article title as an argument against including any list entries.
When an article is moved, the change history is moved with it, and a redirect is placed under the original article's title. If the redirect is edited, then the article cannot be moved back. That is exactly what has happened to the list. See Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages for more information.
The current situation
[edit]The change history of the list is currently stranded as the change history of Sexual slang.
The content of the list itself has been restored to List of sexual slang, where it was originally. This preserves the spirit of the results of the two AfD discussions mentioned above.
To summarize:
[edit]- On Oct 18 the list was nominated for AfD (article for deletion), but this attempt to delete failed, and the vote was overwhelmingly to Keep.
- An anonymous sock-puppet placed a clean-up notice on the list. It has been used as a justification to delete entries.
- On Nov 10, The Literate Engineer made an AfD attempt against the list and it failed too.
- Then Voice of All(MTG) underhandedly moved the list to the non-list name sexual slang, while the AfD was still underway.
- Voice of All(MTG)reported false results for the 10 November AfD vote, and he and The Literate Engineer edited out the entire list.
- I posted a rebuttal to the above antics on the talk page for sexual slang, and reverted the sexual slang article to the November 15 version in the article's change history (the complete list). My username ("Bend over") was banned as inappropriate or offensive.
- Some editors stated that an article is not the place for a list, and used that as a justification to keep list entries.
- So I replaced the redirect at List of sexual slang with the actual content of the entire list. Unfortunately, the change history for the list is still part of the change history for the article sexual slang.
- An attempt is being made to protect the list against vandalism at its original location: List of sexual slang. Remember, the three reversion limit does not apply when reverting vandalism.

Body parts slang added to list
[edit]These terms and phrases qualify as "sexual slang", and therefore have been added to the otherwise incomplete list.
The same people who tried to delete the List of sexual slang unfairly deleted an artilce with these terms in an AfD without reaching a clear consensus.
In any case, there is nothing to prevent anyone from adding sexual slang terms of any variety to the "List of sexual slang", because they clearly fall under the umbrella of this title. If they are sexual slang terms, they can legitimately go into the List of sexual slang. That includes names for penis, vagina, breasts, etc. It is in this context that I have added these terms. Speedy deletion bogus attempt to axe this list
[edit]This article obviously does not qualify for speedy deletion, because it survived 2 AfDs, and it was improperly moved (without discussion or consensus). It was a POV move. Red Rover 00:43, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
I moved the content of the list back to its original location (under its original title), though I'm not the author nor creator of the list, as the list has been on Wikipedia for years. Red Rover 00:43, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Article appears to incorporate material from "body parts slang"
[edit]It appears that this article contains significant amounts of material from another article that was deleted previously, body parts slang (see Talk:Body parts slang and two of the afd notices above). I haven't exactly gone through this with a fine-toothed comb, nor do I really want to, but if this is so then it seems to me there are only two options:
- delete this article as a recreation of a previously-deleted article
- undelete body parts slang and redirect it here in order to preserve the article history, possibly do a history merge if the differences between the two are minimal (this is a legal requirement of the GFDL).
The AfD that ended up causing the deletion of body parts slang looks kind of iffy to me, it suffered from sockpuppetry and a final tally that the closing admin acknowledged was not a consensus. Undeletion and redirection may be the best option in that light. On the other hand, I really don't care much about this one way or the other. I'm just tossing this out here for others to hash out. Reply: Deletion of the article "List of body parts slang" was a hatchet job. Those terms have been added to their mother list (List of sexual slang) as a legitimate expansion thereof. Each of those terms is an example of sexual slang, and therefore qualify to be included in this list, regardless of previous deletion actions. The terms could always be added from scratch individually by the community at large, which already did it once, and could quickly do it again. I've merely saved them the trouble. Red Rover 02:38, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Actually, wikipedia:Deletion review already upheld the AFD that deleted body parts slang. Care to explain how that constitutes a hatchet job? The Literate Engineer 03:27, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Reply: The issue is moot. The expansion edit is no longer included. It has been expunged from the article, and the from the article's history. Red Rover 05:20, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Why is this page protected?
[edit]Why is this page protected, and why has the list history been deleted? --Andrew 17:01, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- Indeed. Why is this page protected, and why has the list history been deleted? Trollderella 21:02, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- Added this page and the admin who protected it to the list of protected pages under the Redirects section (since it wasn't listed there) -Andrew 08:12, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- Okay, so after the "List of Sexual Slang" page gets not only vandalized but locked up (WHO locked it and why?), I tried to get around this by making a new copy of the article at "List of Sexual Slang terms", and "Uncle G" comes along and deletes it. And now that article is locked up too! All of this for an article that was overwhelmingly voted "Keep" in its AfD. Will someone please tell me what the heck is going on here?? wikipediatrix 17:02, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
