Question
[edit]If anyone can answer the following questions, I would be grateful...
- 1. Is Tsar Nicholas II called "Saint Nicholas" or "Saint Tsar Nicholas" or what? How are he and the rest of the Russian Imperial family referred to, saint-wise, in Russian and in English?
- Tsar-martyr Nikolai or Tsar-martyr Nicholas seem most common (Russian transliterated is Tsar'-muchenik). Royal Passion-bearer also seems to be used in English. Man vyi 07:29, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- 2.
Is Charles I called "St. Charles" in the Church of England? Or how is he termed?- St. Charles, King and Martyr, similarly to St. Edward, King and Martyr, seems the most usual dedication where used - but it's not common. Man vyi 07:29, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks; entered. SigPig 23:18, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

St.Charles Stuart is usually venerated as King Charles the Martyr in the Anglican Church. Nennius (talk) 11:16, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Nennius 30/12/08
- 3. How are saints in the Georgian and Armenian Churches named? For example, ecclesiastically, how are Abgarus of Edessa, Tiridates III, and David IV styled?
- 4. Can anyone independently confirm that Eric IX of Sweden's cultus was repressed by Pope Alexander III due to a dispute with his son Knud? All the sites I find seem to get their info from Wikipedia.
- 5. Are there any churches in Thuringia dedicated to Ludwig IV of Thuringia? If so, what denomination are they?
Thnaks in advance to all helpers. SigPig 04:20, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Some additions
[edit]Cut from article until I can wikify to the same format as the other entries.
- St David of Scotland was a king of scotland and a son of St. Margaret of Scotland.
- St Olga of kiev was tha grandmother of St. Vladimir the great and the first women of noble status in russa to become a Christian.
- St. Ferdinand II of Spain.
- St. Arnold, Begga, Ita, and Gertruded were of noble estate and all related.
Anyone know what St David is called in Scots Gaelic? SigPig 04:51, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Orthodox Saints
[edit]I notice that Western royal saints who lived before 1054 are listed as 'Catholic', but should they not also be listed as 'Orthodox'? Nennius (talk) 11:18, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Nennius
- I had a similar thought - I don't think they need to be designated at all, since there was no 'Catholic/Orthodox' dichotomy before the tenth century at the earliest, and many of them are still honoured by Orthodox believers.136.242.181.2 (talk) 17:55, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- That's why we should have a new format of the article. Like in this page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_saints. We should have a table with the church columns, specifying whether or not that church venerates him. El Otro (talk) 12:02, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
