"Professional" sports leagues
[edit]I'd like to informally propose moving this to List of sports leagues by revenue. Aside from US NCAA college sports, a non-professional sports league that nevertheless brings in over US$15 billion per year (good enough for #2 on this list), how many non-professional sports leagues would actually have enough revenue to make it on this list? I'm assuming not many. Ed [talk] [OMT] 21:44, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- This would be slightly more complex than you're giving on, as college football is not a single entity or league. NCAA is unaffiliated with the College Football Playoff and decision-making power largely rests in individual conferences, where conferences like the Big 10 individually own and negotiate their own media rights + revenue, set their own schedules/rules, and have their own commissioners. You're essentially suggesting to combine all college "leagues"/"conferences" into one entity, this would be more like a measurement for an entire industry, not a league like NFL or MLB 2601:647:5900:5D0:68AE:DBAA:1E1B:392F (talk) 23:38, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Add a Men's/Women's column for filtering purposes?
[edit]Was putting data together for a project and noticed there's no easy way to filter for Men's/Women's Leagues in the table - figure it's a similar use case to the "Country(ies)" column.
Obviously the list is going to be 95% "Men's", but figured it might be useful, especially as the WNBA is likely to get a lot more popular in the coming year and to avoid confusion in the future with Tier 1/2 leagues Wapapedia (talk) 03:41, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
Add UEFA Champions League?
[edit]The 2022-23 season of UCL generated 3.2 Euros in revenue. So why is it not in the list? UCL is a professional association football league that comprises of the best clubs in Europe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiEditorLob (talk • contribs) 07:15, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- The Champions League, despite being called a league, does not satisfy the definition of "league" required for this list. It is more of a tournament. Gman197002 (talk) 14:30, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
