Princess Máxima
[edit]Although her own page says that the title "The Princess of Orange" is reserved for female heirs apparent to the throne (though this fact is uncited, and there is no precedent), Princess Máxima is entitled to use the female forms of any of her husband's titles, including Princess of Orange. Arguably her claim to the title and to appear on this page is no worse than that of any of the other women since 1815. If there is no clear explanation as to why she is excluded from the list I will add her after a few days' time. Andrei Iosifovich (talk) 17:19, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- Plus. As long as Princess Maxima's husband remain Prince of Orange, her daughter can't be the Princess of Orange, and only after her husband's accession or death can her daughter become the Princess of Orange in her own right, but by then Maxima wouldn't be Princess consort anymore, anyways. The title of Prince and Princess of Orange is more like the Princes and Princesses of Asturias then the Princes and Princesses of Wales since there can be a Princess in her own right and a Princess consort/by marriage. --Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 06:21, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- This is not correct. Whilst Máxima carried (and still carries) the titles of Princess of the Netherlands and Princess of Orange-Nassau, the title of Prince or Princess of Orange is reserved solely for the Dutch heir to the throne. This was put into law in 2002. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.73.39.22 (talk) 16:26, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Catharina-Amalia
[edit]Should Catharina-Amalia be in the "House of Orange-Nassau" section instead of the "As personal and courtesy title / House of Orange-Nassau" section? As heiress apparent she did not marry into the title as the rest of her (current) section did. I am unsure what personal titles are, but this does not sound like the courtesy title granted the wife of a title holder. 71.234.215.133 (talk) 22:55, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that having Catharina-Amalia listed in the table for "personal and courtesy title" holders could be problematic. However, I don't think it makes sense to add her to the previous section since that would put people out of chronological order, I believe. Perhaps it's a better idea to create a new table that begins with her? Or rename the current table? Metheglyn (talk) 01:40, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Which heir
[edit]This article states that the title is used by the female heirs to the Dutch throne. Yet that fails to explain why Wilhelmina, Juliana, and Beatrix, who all inherited the Dutch throne, never used the title. From the matching male page, Prince of Orange, the title is only used by the heir apparent: Wilhelmina, Juliana, and Beatrix were heir presumptive instead. It would make sense to briefly explain that on this page. 2602:306:CEAE:E60:FD71:838E:1022:5C9 (talk) 09:35, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
