The Constitutional Court ruled that since the constitution provide for one to organise new presidential election, and that there already was a president elect from the recent one, there was no need for an interim by the president of the national assembly, Pascal Nyabenda. The court instead ordered for the intronisation of president elect Pierre Nkurunziza to take place as soon as possible, leading to it happening on 18 June instead of 20 August.
