Jeanine Áñez succeeding according to Constitution?

[edit]

Áñez was not in the line of succession and only a handful of countries recognize her as current Bolivian president. The article should reflect that. The phrase "succeeding according to Constitutional law" is just not factual. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1ucian0 (talkcontribs) 16:30, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is absolutely scandalous that editors of Wikipedia are creating #fakenews, Constitution of Bolivia do not allow self-creation of "presidents". Serek (talk) 07:31, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, Áñez is jailed for 10 years.

No numberings

[edit]

Per @Mewulwe:'s lead at Jeanine Anez. I've removed the numberings, as they're un-sourced. GoodDay (talk) 22:45, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to several sources, Aima is NOT the president of Bolivia, since she was approved without 2/3rd of the Plurinational Assembly and the renounciation of the Head of the Senate, Adriana Salvatierra. As a result, her proclamation as president is only DE FACTO, and not DE JURE. I suggest she is considered not as "Interim president", but "de facto interim president".  Not done for now: As I am not a resident of Bolivia, can you please provide these several sourcesIVORK Talk 07:08, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
When she first declared herself interim president it was only de facto as it came without a vote of the Plurinational Assembly. However, it was accepted as constitutional because the Plurinational Constitutional Court rule it to be constitutional.[1] I know this question was originally asked only a day after that ruling but I'm explaining it here in case the question arises again. Numbering

[edit]

@Mewulwe: The Republic of Bolivia had 65 presidents. Bolivar was the 1st (Some say Sucre was the first but it is generally accepted in Bolivia, on Wikipedia, and most of the world that it was Bolivar). Presidents are numbered by their first term in office even if they held non consecutive offices (Paz Estenssoro is the 45th despite having 4 terms, 3 of them nonconsecutive).[1] The passing of the 2009 Constitution changed the name from Republic of Bolivia to Plurinational State of Bolivia. Evo Morales used this as a basis to reset term limits which the courts upheald justifying that he was the last president (65th) of the republic and the first president (1st) of the Plurinational State. Even Morales himself claims himself to be the 1st President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.[2] Interim presidents like Gueiler or Anez are numbered. The order of numbering is bases on the book by historian and ex-president Carlos Mesa.[3] If you have further questions, ask here before editing pages.

Merge Pages?

[edit]

The article List of heads of state of Bolivia seems to be the exact same article as this one with the difference that the former has not been updated in some time. What do people think about merging the articles? Krisgabwoosh (talk) 15:32, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This was PRODed for being a duplicate of List of presidents of Bolivia, but there appears to be content on this page that isn't covered there (mainly pre-1825 leaders), so I dePRODed and started this merge discussion, as I think this may be a better result. Seagull123 Φ 15:56, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Seagull123: I nominated the page. It seems that half of the page in question is the same as the list of Bolivian presidents here (with many, many, mistakes). However, the first half of the page is a list of early presidents of Argentina, the Argentina Confederation, Buenos Aires, etc. I think the idea is supposed to be that Argentina (or its equivalent predecessor) declared independence with territorial claims on what is now Bolivia. However, I wouldn't include a list of Prime Ministers of Britain in a list of Presidents of the U.S. just because America was a British colony. That's why I suggest deleting it as there really isn't anything to merge in here. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 16:24, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the other page was created by a sockpuppet anyway (and very well might be a long-term state leader vandal known as User:U + 1F4AD). Emk9 (talk) 02:33, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Seagull123: It's been a couple months. Should we consider this discussion closed? Krisgabwoosh (talk) 00:08, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Redirected as an alternative to deletion (which I think is the implied outcome of the above discussion! Klbrain (talk) 22:44, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
