Merging every single article?

[edit]

Who decided on this, merging the whole lot. Some of these characters have cultural impact on britian. Google some of them. And someone merged every single one of them Raintheone (talk) 15:05, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think Elsie Tanner and Hilda Ogden, at least, deserve their own pages. --JamesB3 (talk) 00:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I think it should be the minor charcters, not every character, that isn't very good, people want to know information on their best charcters . Not a cut down version. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.0.212.24 (talk) 19:11, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But these aren't cut down versions. These represent the full content of the individual articles. I can't imagine anyone would have any objections to unmerging particular characters as and when someone wants to take the time to re-write them in order to demonstrate notability and ensure that the content isn't just in-universe plot summary... But as it is, older character articles were being nominated for deletion & redirected to List of past Coronation Street characters on an increasingly regular basis, which obviously preserved no content whatsoever. I think this is a much better alternative to that. Frickative 19:23, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, the articles should be expanded to show more notability. Some of them, like Elsie and Hilda, were considered iconic characters for decades, and others, like Len, were major players for decades. I guess the lack of notability on their pages hinders them. --JamesB3 (talk) 02:17, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
