Photo for top group

Photo for the top group on the list should be added in addition to the photos for the top male and female artists. Top group is a common topic when there are lists of top artists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:8B:C300:3280:289E:D4D:B9C:FA39 (talk) 02:28, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

Split proposed

The "Most followers" section has different content with the title name, better splitted into List of most followed artists on Spotify. Hddty. (talk) 09:40, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

References need help

I started trying to sort out some ref errors but ran into trouble. The Spotify citations aren't showing the total number of followers an artist has. I'm not too familiar with Spotify - am I overlooking something? I see the monthly number, but not the total.

In addition, a lot of these entries are paired with the wrong citation. In the monthly chart, Drake has Seb Munoz's citation, Calvin Harris has Khalid's, Eminem has Ed Sheerhan's... about half of them seem to be wrong.

This is surely the result of recent vandalism, and/or frequent reordering of the list. Now that the page is protected, I assume some of this will settle down. I'm daunted at the idea of trying to sort all this out, particularly because I'm not seeing the relevant content (total followers) on those Spotify pages. I'm done with this page, but if someone else wanted to sort it out, that would be great. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 18:12, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

Country?

Why is "country" in these tables so important? Why not city instead? What does country mean for a band where the band members have different passports? As so often in Wikipedia tables, mentioning a "country" does not make much sense in this table. I suggest removing it. Flugscham (talk) 07:08, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

I second this - it's also used inconsistently, given that Puerto Rico is not a country but appears in the country column. Will go remove. CitrusEllipsis (talk) 05:31, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Drake?

Why is Drake at the top of the "Spotify Global Top 200" table when he doesn't even have a number in the total streams column. It just says "N/A." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.189.153.14 (talk) 4:55, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Most-streamed artists formatting

@Seancookie101: Instead of reverting you again, I'm going to open this discussion to try and solve this issue first. Can you explain how the horizontal table causes confusion? I've worked with horizontal tables on articles where information is far too vast to use a typical vertical format, such as Pro Wrestling Illustrated and List of Pro Wrestling Illustrated awards, and this issue ticks the same boxes as faced in those articles.

This Spotify list is a yearly ranking of just the top five artists—the only other information they provide is the streams for the number-one ranked artist. We're only seven years in and it already takes up a significant amount of vertical space. At the moment, the horizontal table presents all seven years in nearly the same amount of space as just one of those seven years in the vertical format. It also allows you to easily compare all seven years of rankings at a glance instead of having to scroll around. With how bad that issue already is, it will only continue to worsen as time goes on.

Perhaps there are adjustments that could be made to improve the issues you have with it. Prefall 09:55, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

I heard the news that Travis Scott recently reached 20 billions of streamings on Spotify! Shouldn’t he be in the rank? Liucteo01 (talk) 20:41, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

@Liucteo01: That figure is including credits. He has less than 15 billion alone, which it's not enough to put him in the top 10 of most-streamed artists. The year-end statistics are not out yet, so maybe he'll be there. - Ïvana (talk) 22:00, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

That's true, he is part of 10 songs over 1 billion streams, except the section is about lead songs. Justin Bieber has only 6 songs that he is the lead singer on (Love Yourself, Sorry, What Do You Mean, Peaches, Stay, I Don't Care). The other songs (Despacito, Let Me Love You, Cold Water, I'm The One) are labeled: featuring (or feat.) Justin Bieber. I will change the description of the section so that it'll be clearer that the section is about non-feat songs. An o niem ja (talk) 11:55, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Request to change a wikitable

In the "Most-streamed artists" section, "All the time" subsection, the number of songs with over a billion streams by Justin Bieber. The cited source, ChartMasters, states that there are 6; however, it only mentions the Bieber songs that appear among the 100 most-streamed songs on Spotify. Today I looked at the Billions Club, which notes that instead of 6, Bieber has 10 songs that beat this record. So please modify that part. Thank you very much. 190.24.78.223 (talk) 23:47, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

Question

Mariah Carey's position is really doubtful and not at all credible, the singer only has one song that exceeds one billion views, I still don't understand how she is in position 19, if she is not widely listened to in Latin America, I am surprised that in this List not this Karol G that is more popular on the world. GeogieTax (talk) 13:49, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Mariah Carey is only on the list around christmas time, so december / january. Because of All i want for christmas is you, which is very much streamed around christmas. Karol G is lower on the list, i think because of Latin America using Spotify less than for example most of Europe or the Usa. Or maybe because Karol G hasn't had a song in the top 10 of the billboard hot 100 (so no big hit). An o niem ja (talk) 14:37, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello Spotify who listens to Mariah Carey if the artist has not released any new songs or any song from her has been in the 100 most viral of 2022, not in the Billboard Hot 100 ¿¿¿???. GeogieTax (talk) 05:17, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
During Christmas time many people listen to Mariah Carey because she has the biggest Christmas hit, bigger than "viral" tiktok hits An o niem ja (talk) 13:06, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Photo captions / recent edits

I changed the caption because of bad bunny not being the most streamed artist in 2019. And there is no source for taylor swift being the most streamed woman of all time, only for the last 2 years. In the intro, I think "and" is a better writing than "while" because the male / female is no contradiction. For the photo caption of Drake, I think artist fits better than act. And the spotify link is correct because it is a list of spotify. An o niem ja (talk) 17:40, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

I am interested in significantly changing this article, but I don't know how to correctly

Hello everyone.

First of all, I clarify that I am writing this message since there is no Wikipedia tool to address what I am going to explain. The peer review is only for articles prepared for a status, while the request for comments is only to address the neutrality of the article.

I'm thinking of converting the article to a Featured List (FL). I see that this list, at least, is somewhat better structured than List of most-streamed songs on Spotify, but there are some shared problems, such as a lot of primary source and lack of verified information, mainly in the Timeline of peak section monthly listeners and the tables, a bit messy.

However, I cannot improve anything, absolutely nothing, in this article. That's why I ask for a "review" of the article by one or more trained users —they don't have to be 100% professionals— to start improving this list, which has a structure not so convincing. Why do I say "I can't change anything in this article? Because this is precisely my first time getting involved in something like this, and I'm afraid of damaging the article worse instead of improving it, as happened in Su Presencia Worship at the Spanish Wikipedia. Also, if this process is carried out, it would be the first FL to address a popularity list related to a very popular platform on the Internet, such as a social network.

I hope that each user who is reading can prepare to improve the list. I don't want this to sound like propaganda or a scam, as you may notice that I also talked about something similar on the other related list I linked to; I just want to turn the two into a FL.

Thanks for reading everything and I hope you have a good time on Wikipedia. 186.29.38.170 (talk) 17:59, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

Unnecessary images

@An o niem ja: The images are for illustrating an artist, not for illustrating a record. Currently, there is an image for the most streamed artist, woman, group, the act with the most monthly listeners, and the most followed male and female artists. No other images are required. A 2nd image of Swift because she is the woman with the most monthly listeners or Coldplay because they're the group with most listeners are purely decorative and WP:SYNTH. Do we have an article from a reliable source calling Coldplay "the group with the most monthly listeners"? If not, then that proves there is not notability for such a thing to guarantee an image. Images should be used minimally and only when it is of prime importance/coverage. Please place your arguments here instead of edit-warring on the article. ℛonherry 17:39, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

👍 An o niem ja (talk) 18:55, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
Hello,
If you look on Spotify, you can see that they have the most monthly listeners from any group. It can also be seen on the article itself, showing that they have more monthly listeners than any other group. Also, if you go on Spotify, you can see that the ranking on this article is very true. :) Nickianafan (talk) 21:52, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
Did you read what I had stated? Nobody is denying the facts. Yes, Coldplay IS the group with the most monthly listeners. But that is purely your observation from a source and not a written statement from an article. Every act CANNOT have an image. Only the most notable records should have the image. "The group with the most monthly listeners" is not notable or covered by any publication as a crucial feat. And hence, an image is unnecessary. ℛonherry 14:41, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Both became the first artists to surpass 100 million monthly listeners in Spotify's history". Taylor Swift is now the most streamed artist on Spotify. Hello everyone. I'm not adept enough at spotting compliant articles from verifiable sources, but I notice that these two lists (List of Spotify streaming records and List of most-streamed artists on Spotify) are not comply with WP:CHARTS, because it clearly mentions that Spotify is not a reliable source, since it is a list belonging to a single retailer specific. Likewise, the source used for the most interesting lists (Spotify itself) is an excuse to "make more reliable" where the information came from (ChartMasters and kworb.net), sources that are unreliable because the first falls under WP:SPS, and there's no indication of where the figures are from, while the second mostly compiles airplay data from Mediabase along with normalized popularity values for tracks in the iTunes Store; in particular, the sales estimates page should not be cited under any circumstance, as the provided figures on the page are merely estimated and are not based on official data.

So far I remain neutral regarding Spotify Charts, since they could be used under specific circumstances. Due to the abusive strategies to support the existence of these lists, I suggest that a Articles for deletion query should be opened for both, where the most convenient result must be delete.

Thanks for reading. Santi (talk) 01:49, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

I'd remove the 2012 line on the most streamed artists per year, list is not full plus the source stated doesn't even say Rihanna is #1

Source: "The Diamonds singer topped the list for most-streamed female artist of 2012 on Spotify". So we have no official confirmation on Rihanna being #1 overall, just #1 female.

If we take a look at Rolling Stone, it seems Spotify only revealed the #1 per gender and group but not the #1 overall. Assuming it's Rihanna has no reliable source behind.RS Link: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/gotye-mumford-sons-lead-spotify-streams-in-2012-2-231711/ Nacho Iragui (talk) 14:48, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Female artist designation

"while American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is the female artist with the most monthly listeners"

This designation of "the female artist with the most..." seems odd. What is the purpose here? Given that many of the artists on these charts are females it doesn't seems like useful information. To me it read as though an editor is just making sure Taylor Swift gets mentioned even those she is not at the top of those categories. Dreamoftherood (talk) 02:16, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Most-Streamed Artist Of All Time On Spotify

The text at the top of the article naming Peso pluma as the most streamed artist is incorrect. The citation is a spanish article that is very vague and cites no source. According to the data I can find: https://kworb.net/spotify/artists.html, https://routenote.com/blog/most-streamed-artists-all-time-spotify/ Drake is still the most streamed artist on Spotify by a rather wide margin, with Taylor Swift only being the most streamed artist by lead streams only. Considering featured streams count for every section in this article, Taylor Swift shouldn't be considered the most streamed artist of all time because of this. Sorry if this was too long and doesn't really matter, it just kinda bugged me. 2A00:23C8:7585:5501:208F:A7A2:65C1:3BF2 (talk) 23:24, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

it would seem you are confusing streams with monthly listeners, which yes, the most monthly listener title belongs to The Weeknd, but in total streams, Drake is at 96 billion, whereas Taylor is at 73 billion. 31.179.24.239 (talk) 13:35, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
