Semi-protected edit request on 7 June 2017 | "LOS 8 VIDEOS CON MAS DISLIKES DE YOUTUBE" by 8cho

Can anyone update the list for this video called "LOS 8 VIDEOS CON MAS DISLIKES DE YOUTUBE" by the youtuber 8cho? It already has more than 585k dislikes so I guess it can be into the list. It's purpose was to make a top of the eight most disliked videos on youtube and then he asked his fans to reach 500k dislikes. The video was uploaded on the 13th of April of 2017 and it has a 89.251% dislike percentage. Athenyx (talk) 20:35, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Not done for now: I don't think it's a good idea to put a video on this list where it was deliberately requested by the video uploader to dislike the video... seems like gaming the system. Izno (talk) 21:02, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Well I thought it would go that way as PewDiePie's video on "Can this video get 1 million dislikes?" is 3rd on the list but okay ^^ , thanks for clarifying. Athenyx (talk) 00:20, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Not done for now: The dislike numbers for all the videos at the bottom of the list are changing frequently and positions will switch because of that. Global recounts of all list items on a semi-regular basis may be possible but each individual video that barely qualifies may only spend a day in position 39, as this seems to have done. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:08, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 8 June 2017

The current dislikes have to be changed, because the video "Bibi H - How it is ( wap bap ... ) [Official Video]" has currently more dislikes than "‹ CORTANDO O BOTÃO DO YOUTUBE ›". So the places 5 and 6 have to switch Julverino (talk) 23:37, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Not done for now: See above. Global re-order on a semi-regular basis is probably better than moving individual items up or down one spot. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:09, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Candidate to add to the list - #MoreThanARefugee video?

it's got 460K dislikes but not certain if it should be added given current political climate? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.125.160.200 (talk)

List of most disliked YouTube videos#Top videos currently ends at 592K dislikes so there is no reason to list a video with 460K. Maybe it will make the cut later. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:27, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
Understood, Thank You 69.125.160.200 (talk) 00:41, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
This video and others like it from first-party creator "Youtube voices" deserves recognition somewhere on this page due to some very strong evidence that Youtube is deliberately tampering with the like/dislike ratio--perhaps to keep it off this page, among other reasons. Were this type of censorship not taking place, the video would have made the list already, and some YT users allege that it had already passed 800k dislikes before the dislike manipulation took effect.--2600:8805:4003:4D00:3107:2EF:72C8:B22E (talk) 14:02, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
The video [1] says "YouTube Spotlight" and not "Youtube voices". Wikipedia:Verifiability requires reliable sources so that is needed before alleged tampering might be mentioned. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:13, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Wrong "dislike" measurement?

The article just states the raw number of dislikes. This, however, is not a good way to measure how much a video is liked/disliked. For example "Baby" from Justin Bieber has the highes absolut value of dislikes. However the ration to likes is 52.12% (actually). This means that it shouldn't be number one in this list, because, really half of the peolple like it and half of the people don't.

On the other side Bibis "how it is" is on position 6, while it should rather be on the first positions, because the great majority of people disliked the song.

On the other hand you can not build the list entirely on the ration like/dislike because then a video with only two viewers (for example) that has two dislikes would be number one, despite the fact that it is mosty irrelevant to the public.

So what I'm saying is, that we really need a different way to measure the position in this list. MUst be a combination of number of viewers and ration of likes:dislikes...

Most disliked video

Where it says "At over eight million dislikes, Bieber's video remains the most disliked on YouTube as of 2018.", isn't that misleading? It has the highest number of dislikes, but it also has a similar amount of likes. Wouldn't the most disliked video have to be determined by the ratio of dislikes to likes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tommy2215 (talkcontribs) 11:43, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

It is not misleading. The most disliked video is defined to be the video with the highest number of dislikes. This definition of "most-disliked" is clearly stated in the first sentence of the article. If we were to define it using the dislike to like ration, any video with 1 dislike and 0 likes would have to be #1. AntiCedros (talk) 02:18, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

"Real-time" dislikes vs as they appear on the video's page?

As the Rewind video is being constantly updated, should it be based on how they appear on the actual YouTube page, or should it be based on what 'real-time' sources says? As if different people do different ways, it'll just alternate between a decrease and an increase. Mellk (talk) 20:54, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Bringing this up again

Now that YouTube Rewind is now number one, figured I bring this up again. First of all, you can see the past discussion here for a bit of background. In conclusion, I and others thought that there should be Historical Most Disliked YouTube videos section. Figured now would be a good time to add it. Already worked on this in my sandbox a bit. Would like to hear others. Thanks, SportGuy002 (talk) 16:28, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

YouTube Rewind 2018 is actually at 9.54 million dislikes, right now. Not 9.81. Gableruneintfeb88 (talk) 01:47, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

That's because the dislike count has not updated on the video. The live dislike count is at 9.82 currently. WikiBrainHead (talk) 02:00, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

@WikiBrainHead How do you know? Gableruneintfeb88 (talk) 02:16, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

I think it's best not to assume that this "live" count is accurate unless/until it is shown to be accurate. I think we should go with what appears on the watch page, as that is much more likely to be accurate. SummerSolsta7 (talk) 02:24, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Could someone please edit the page, so that it shows the YouTube Rewind 2018 dislike ratings that come from the YouTube watch page? I would do it myself. But I'm not able to, since I am a new user to Wikipedia. And I also don't believe that the dislike ratings counter on the "live" counter are accurate.Gableruneintfeb88 (talk) 02:35, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

As a reply to you all, judging by how people are updating it to match the live dislike count, and have been for quite some time now, and the fact that it's been accurate in the past, I don't think it should be reverted. Also, for evidence just look up any "Youtube Rewind vs Baby" comparison. WikiBrainHead (talk) 03:42, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

The numbers are changing rapidly enough that by the time any editor responds to an edit request here, the request is already out of date. The article is being updated plenty frequently by multiple editors, so there is no need to place an edit request to ask that it be updated. If you think the method of determining the count needs to change, that should be discussed on the talk page. Such an edit request cannot be completed unless a clear consensus exists. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 03:47, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Youtube systems show like/dislike ratio with a high latency, like as a view count. But view count have higher latency, than like/dislike ratio. That's why real-time counters have bigger dislike ratio than YouTube itself. --46.39.231.151 (talk) 05:36, 13 December 2018 (UTC) Edit: Ah, no, it seems like it shows viewcount normally. But why like/dislike ratio is less? --46.39.231.151 (talk) 05:40, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

I'm going to ask a similar question: where dies it say in the guide that real-time data cannot be used? It's perfectly fine using real-time data, and yes while it's borderline impossible to follow the dislike count on all videos, the rate of dislikes for most videos on here are somewhat slow, so using the count on YouTube should be perfectly fine. Also, there shouldn't be a reason not to get information as accurate as we can, which real-time data helps a lot. WikiBrainHead (talk) 23:08, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Suggestion to color YouTube Rewind videos on the list

Currently, the table shows only the color key indicating the video is not a music video. Could we use a second color for those entries on this list that are episodes of YouTube Rewind? There is no question about it that recent years have seen a trend that YouTube Rewind videos tend to be both viewed and disliked quickly. Both this year's Rewind and last year's Rewind made the upper half of this list, and even the 2016 Rewind had a considerable disliking rate even though it is not on this list. 74.104.137.240 (talk) 17:41, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Structure of Lede Needs Improvement

"This list of most-disliked YouTube videos contains the top 30 videos with the most dislikes of all time, as derived from YouTube charts..."

First I don't like the term "YouTube charts" as that's meaningless. A "chart" is simply a graphic representation of someone's data and gives no indication of who did the "chart", nor any sense of credibility. Note the Article focuses on "most-disliked", which from the literary/terminology perspective can meaning anything, and therefore nothing. This unwieldy phrase in the 1st sentence of the Lede sends the signal that the rest of the Article has a credibility problem. I think the Lede should immediately launch into the definition of the terms, as failing to do so, or doing so further down in the Lede, or even the Body, does not "invite the Reader" to continue reading. Instead it throws up a red-flag that says "This Article may not be credible." What people "like", or "dislike", how someone arrived at that information, who arrived at that information, and for what purpose, etc... becomes a precondition to continue reading. Failing to address those issues immediately actively discourages people from continuing to read. It certainly did in my case. I quit before finishing the Lede and came here instead to complain about it. I'd like to see something like "From the like/dislike data Youtube collects, a chart was compiled by "X" (whoever), and for (whatever) purpose." Secondary to this is that the method of compilation should be mentioned immediately, because the immediately looming question is "What if a video has 1,000,000 views and 50% dislikes (500,000), while another video has 10 million views and 40% dislikes (4 million). Is the "dislike" factor straight numbers, a ratio of dislikes to views, etc... The Article is about to introduce the Reader to DATA, and data is meaningless without interpretation, and the method of interpreting the data will determine whether or not the Reader wants to continue reading. Corporations absolutely have an agenda when interpreting their own data about their own product. So, establish method first, to establish credibility, before getting into anything else, is my point. Else, the Reader will "turn off", stop reading and move on to something else, which I just did. Finally I wonder if including other "structural" information regarding methodology and interpretation should be included immediately. Many people do not know that YouTube also tracks whether or not a Viewer watches some, most or all of the entire video, and I wonder if 1) that data is available and 2) if it should be included in the Lede. Do people completely watch a "disliked" video, or do they "turn off"? If two videos have an equal percentage of dislikes, or a comparable count of dislikes, and one video is "completely watched" and the other is "incompletely watched", does that affect the data. People are sophisticated when it comes to a for-profit corporation (YouTube) telling the world what they like and dislike about the product that YouTube sells, and the Article should be written to take this into full account.Tym Whittier (talk) 17:50, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

"data is meaningless without interpretation" invalidates your argument. Data is objective information. Interpretation is subjective. Wikipedia is not an opinion board. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.20.146.109 (talk) 13:04, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Also I'd also like to mention that YouTube absolutely manipulates the data of it's likes/dislikes. I've seen it 1st hand on the Gillette ad (tracking it "live" while it was viral). And yes, it's "OR", but it's also true, and if I'm "biased" in this way, so are other Wikipedia Readers and IMO the Article needs to be constructed to take those Reader's preconceptions into account. To give some sense of "flavor", I watched YouTube's numbers change (decrease) by 100,000+ count increments in 6 to 24 hour increments over a period of several days, to give some sense of scale on how the data was being cooked. They were reducing the number of views at this scale, and the number of dislikes, while the video was viral. There may not be RS to support this enough to mention it in the Article, however this is who at least some of Wikipedia's Readers are, and the Article should be aware of the strong level of skepticism regarding how accurately YouTube reports their own numbers about their own videos. Plus, addition to the "profit motive" thing, there's also the "politically correct" thing to consider.Tym Whittier (talk) 17:59, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
"data is meaningless without interpretation" invalidates your argument. Data is objective information. Interpretation is subjective. Wikipedia is not an opinion board. The first "opinion" Wikipedia has is which data is included, and which data is not. Categorization, sequencing, phrasing, spelling, grammar, style, titles, and an infinite number of "connotational choices" that are to some extent impossible to even describe (things "feel" one way, or another, and one is "better than the other") are just some examples of how Wikipedia absolutely has a perspective, point-of-view, and "opinion". Sure the Policy says "neutral", and things are supposed to be "encyclopedic", but who decides that, and how is it achieved? Someone, somewhere, has to have an "opinion".Tym Whittier (talk) 14:53, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Dagger in table

It's somewhat useful to indicate that something isn't a music video, I guess, but why does it need to be bright yellow and have a   (KIA) symbol in front of it? It seems both far more useful and far more intuitive to use the dagger symbol to indicate that a Youtube video is no longer public. Prinsgezinde (talk) 19:31, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Removal of last 20 videos?

At some point, the number of videos on the list was changed from 50 to 30 without any explanation, discussion, or consensus. I have added the now-missing list items.

All I could find is this regarding why Tcamfield reverted it. Makes sense for consistency’s sake, so I guess that was why. I have edited this page for over a year thou, so I am used to the 50 vids. But I get his point for 30. I don’t want to start something requiring consensus, so I’ll leave this here. Hope this helps. Thanks, SportGuy002 (talk) 00:31, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Do you think we could remove the last 20 videos to be consistent with the List of most liked YouTube videos and List of most viewed YouTube videos, and also to reduce the updating time by 40%? It doesn't seem reasonable to say at the top of this page "Of the 50 videos in this list, x also appear in the list of most-viewed YouTube videos and y appear in the list of most-liked YouTube videos" when the numbers of videos in each list are not consistent. Recommend a bot to fetch dislike and like counts to update all videos

A bot should be made to fetch the current like and dislike counts of each video at the same time. It then displays it in the same format that currently exists, and calculates the %dislike ratio. This bot should update the page every few hours or so. Having a person update this page manually is too tedious. TheExceptionCloaker (talk) 01:12, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
