Note to self
[edit]Continue listing battles from (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Category:Battles_of_World_War_I) starting with E. Eightball 7/21
Information
[edit]As you can see, many of the Battles in here still need to be written on. So thus, I am calling for a "Crusade" to make the red words blue. Also, the Fall of Baghdad article needs a disambiguation page. It only goes to the 2003 fall, not the 1917 fall. That must be a perogative.
Battle
[edit]Anyone know where/when/what the Battle of Wurst Farm Ridge was? I have seen numerous references to it on different Internet sites (424 matches via Google), but no explanation. Ben davison 22:23, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
Major update
[edit]I have made a major update of this page, and I hope it is somewhat better organized now. My regards, Dennis Nilsson. Dna-Dennis talk - contribs 07:36, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Order
[edit]Shouldn't the battles in each section be in chronological order? --Pmsyyz 22:56, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Issues to work out
[edit]- How does one cite a book in which there are two editors, many authors and one who wrote the entry you're using, specifically?
- Should I use "August 1st" or "August 1"?
- http://www.firstworldwar.com Is this considered an accurate source?
- Would I be penilized for using (atm) just 3 sources?
- Should or shouldn't I use "General?" For example, General Example's Third Army vs. Example's Third Army.
- Is "Air engagements" really a necessary section?
Thanks, ResMar 22:44, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- Citations aren't my thing and I don't know if there's an exact rule or way it should be done, but check WP:CITE, as it should probably be somewhere on there.
- I'd go with "August 1".
- Accurate: from my brief look-through of the site, yes. Credible: possibly. But I definitely feel that there needs to be more sources. Hew Strachan's The First World War, R.G. Grant's Battle, World War I by H.P. Wilmott, Robin Cross, and Charles Messenger are three good ones off the top of my head.
- You wouldn't really be penalized, but diversity is generally better.
- I would give the rank as it's more informative to the reader, and thus, better.
- It's not really necessary but it does serve a purpose, so I would keep it. But it definitely needs to be expanded. My regards, Laurinavicius (talk) 23:45, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Merger Discussion
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- Merged
List of World War I battles duplicates a lot of the content found on List of military engagements of World War I. The only significant difference in scope is that the latter article covers naval and air engagements as well as land battles. It might be beneficial to merge List of World War I battles into List of military engagements of World War I. Alcherin (talk) 21:45, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
Done Completing obvious merge. AmericanAir88 (talk) 03:17, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Trench or manevar battle
[edit]Greatings Wikipedian friends...Is there any option to make a list of all battles on land in WW1 sorted by the fact which were battles with trenches and which were not...Also it would be great but many work to write on every battle article from WW1 about land battles was that trench battle or manuevre battle without trneches...I think it would be helpful...With regards...93.86.220.250 (talk) 15:30, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Vlora War

The major battle which changed world war one see below.
Why does the first section have paragraphs explaining each battle?
[edit]The first part of the section "Western Front" has paragraphs explaining each battle, but after that, it only lists the battles. Either all of the battles listed should have some text explaining them, or none of them should. Considering that this is a list article, I think the latter is appropriate. Add information about who won

Senussi campaign classification
[edit]I noticed an interesting edit when I was looking at this page a while ago. The Senussy campaign was marked here as part of the Sinai-Palestine Theater (which contradicts the article on the S. campaign where it is included only in North African operations). This brings me to an interesting question, does it really belong there? On the Sinai Palestine Campaign page, in the conflict location section, it says that it took place in Eyalet Egypt and Ottoman Syria. So by the definition in this article it should belong there, but I think a lot of people think it shouldn't belong there. What is your opinion? Does the Senussy campaign belong to the Sinai and Palestine Campaign? Should the Sinai site of the Palestinian campaign be adapted only to eastern Egypt? Timixion (talk) 11:33, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
