Babbitt's Semi-Simple Variations

[edit]

Can somebody add Milton Babbitt's "Semi-Simple Variations" to this list? It clearly has jazz influence. Just listen to The Bad Plus' arrangement of this piece. If you compare the origianal and the The Bad Plus arrangement, there is little difference. I just have trouble editing charts. Eclecticperson34 (talk) 21:16, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ralph Vaughan williams

[edit]

Referring to his sixth symphony, I suggest including Ralph Vaughan Williams, modern British composer and important musician of the 20th century. 46.114.38.31 (talk) 14:02, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sergei Rachmaninoff 4th Concerto and Rhapsody on Paganini

[edit]

Rachmaninoff's later works such as his 4th Concerto and Rhapsody on Paganini are often brought up as examples for Jazz's influence over Rachmaninoff. He also was known to listen to jazz and even play it.

"He also listened to orchestral jazz by both the black jazz orchestras then playing regularly in New York — those of Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington — and later became a devoted enthusiast of pianist Art Tatum. Tenor John McCormack remembered Rachmaninoff himself playing jazz for his own amusement." - Quote from the Wikipedia page of Rachmaninoff's fourth concerto
