Tennis venues
[edit]Should tennis venues, such as Rod Laver Arena, be included here or at List of indoor arenas by capacity? It would seem that the size of tennis courts is much closer to an indoor arena than a stadium. List of tennis stadiums by capacity already exists. Thanks! Patken4 (talk) 22:48, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

- How exactly are the terms "stadium" and "arena" defined anyway? Many people use the words interchangeably.88.103.9.230 (talk) 18:32, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- The difference is the size of venue. An arena is generally used for sports that require a smaller playing surface, such as basketball, ice hockey, or volleyball. A stadium is generally used for sports that require a larger playing surface, such as the various codes of football, rugby, or baseball. So even though Amsterdam Arena has arena in its name, it is still a stadium, and even though Cameron Indoor Stadium has stadium in its name, it is still an arena. what about wembley?
[edit]erm, you seem to be missing wembley...? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.72.106 (talk) 23:04, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- It isn't completely covered, only the stands are. While the roof retracts a little, at no point does it completely cover the field of play. Thanks! Patken4 (talk) 00:36, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Friends Arena — indoor or not?
[edit]Friends Arena is listed on both this list of covered arenas, but also on the list of indoor arenas in Europe. The other arenas seem to be listed on one or the other, and the text in this article: "Indoor arenas should not be included on this list as there is a separate list for them." seems to imply that the arena in question with a retractable roof should not be on the other list. 83.248.171.201 (talk)
- It is a stadium, despite it's name. I've updated the list at indoor arenas. Thanks! Patken4 (talk) 22:17, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Estadio Ciudad de La Plata, Argentina
[edit]This Stadium is not included in the list. It has a capacity of 57.000 spectators. It won the Outstanding Structure Award in 2012. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.11 (talk) 14:57, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
- Does it have a configuration where it becomes a dome, a stadium with a roof that fully covers the stadium (the stands and the field)? If so, it qualifies.G. Capo (talk) 18:52, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Defunct and Demolished Stadiums
[edit]It would be nice, in the section of Defunct and Demolished Stadiums, to list when the venues were built. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:183:4400:3600:C560:9BF2:5068:1A43 (talk) 18:57, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
