Multiple countries are not visible
[edit]I've tried about everything I could think of, but the following countries are not visible in the list (also not in preview): Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia and Somaliland.

New Discussion
[edit]A discussion has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Countries/Lists of countries which could affect the inclusion criteria and title of this and other lists of countries. Editors are invited to participate. Pfainuk talk 11:46, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
United Kingdom
[edit]For other countries, this is a list of their simple names, but for the United Kingdom, it seems to be the official name. Is there a reason for this? Or as I see, there are two forms for the United States, should there also be one for the "United Kingdom"? H2ppyme (talk) 18:09, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- I'd say, sure, why don't you add it? Pasquale (talk) 20:05, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Good point, for example, the U.S. in Korean usually has two forms, "Amerika Hapjungguk" (official, longform) and "Miguk" (colloquial shortform), but only the former is on here at the moment. Also, some countries only have the shortform name but not the official one (like Serbia). – Illegitimate Barrister (talk • contribs), 12:50, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Wales but not Scotland ?
[edit]Why is Wales in this list, but not Scotland ?Eregli bob (talk) 03:18, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- The list's inclusion criteria is a bit convoluted. The title says "countries" but the list also includes constituent subnational territories like the USVI. Also some countries are listed twice, like the UK. – Illegitimate Barrister (talk • contribs), 12:50, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Deletions reverted
[edit]As noted in the intro, "This article attempts to give all known alternative names for all nations, countries and sovereign states. It does not offer any opinion about what the "original", "official", "real", or "correct" name of any country is or was." So I've reverted the deletion from the article, which was made with the edit summary "Saint Pierre and Miquelon (French Overseas territory) Scotland (Still in Great Britain) South Ossetia (Part Of the soverign State of Georgia) Transnistria (part of the soverign state of Moldovia". The nations listed have widely-used names, and the point of this article is to list how the names are expressed in different languages, and not to express an opinion on their sovereignty. Please get consensus here before resuming deletion. Filing Flunky (talk) 02:11, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
Western Sahara, Sealand, Tibet, Somaliland and South Sudan
[edit]Somaliland seceded from Somalia many years ago, and still control almost all of its claimed territory, even it's not recognised. Why don't add Somaliland? South Sudan is already recognised and a UN member. Please add also: Western Sahara, Sealand, Tibet. --79.26.70.220 (talk) 00:36, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- List's getting a bit big. It's got the USVI on it and that's not even a country. Got to draw the line somewhere. – Illegitimate Barrister (talk • contribs), 12:57, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
