Messe basse opus number?

[edit]

Is there an opus number for the Messe Basse? If so, it's missing from here. On the other hand, maybe there is no number - a google search doesn't show any number being given. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.171.29 (talk) 03:41, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dates

[edit]

It would be helpful if this list contained dates. IXIA (talk) 06:24, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong dates?

[edit]

"9 preludes, Op. 103 (1809-10)"? I don't think those dates are right, since that was before he was born.... --97.115.131.148 (talk) 04:54, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Opuses 71 and 81

[edit]

The entry for opus 71 seems highly questionable. I am not a cellist, but I have found little real evidence for a solo Papillon. It seems to me as if it might simply be an error for the Papillon for cello and piano, opus 77. In addition, I have seen some indications that the Theme and Variations, Op. 73, might have originally occupied the 71 slot - which would mean that it now should be empty. Is anyone able to shed light on this?

For opus 81 we seem to have no entry at all these days.

Neither of these numbers are in the list of numbers that Nectoux states were not used. I don't have access to the full version of Nectoux's book, however, so I don't know if he sheds any light on either of these cases. Possibilites include them representing earlier versions of pieces that ended up with a different number. Alternatively, it might just be that they are particularly obscure pieces that have not entered the repertoire. Orfeocookie (talk) 15:40, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed both 71 and 81 don't exist. I don't have the book now (it was a university library borrow) but I used the list in Gabriel Faure: A Guide to Research (ISBN 0415998859) for my own purposes and those were missing. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 17:13, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you. I've found out that there's a copy of Nectoux's book available in a library nearby, so I might see if it sheds any light as to WHY the numbers are missing. Because the text on non-assigned opuses (9, 53, 60, 64 and 100) also says that "some works which in the end remained unpublished, notably some of his transcriptions, were given a number". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orfeocookie (talkcontribs) 01:12, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nectoux catalogue

[edit]

There is a new catalogue of all of Fauré known works by Jean-Michel Nectoux, identifying 201 works by a new "N" number. Sadly all the libraries are still closed here in Germany, so I haven't had the chance to look at it. Is there any objection to include the N numbers here? intforce (talk) 21:53, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
