Type of spider?

[edit]

this spider has built itself a huge web in my backyard (im in Canberra)- does anyone know which sort it is? -- Astrokey44|talk 02:44, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This user no longer has a talk page but I can give the ID as referenced here A Field Guide to Spiders of Australia CSIRO Publishing http://www.publish.csiro.au/book/6899/ as Family Araneidae Subfamily Araneinae Genus one of several possible "eriophorine" Orb-weavers with characteristics similar to Eriophora transmarina, Eriophora biapicata, Backobourkia spp. Novakiella spp. and other similar Orb-weavers which build capture webs in the evening and take them down the next morning. It should be noted that the genus 'Eriophora' is a northern hemisphere genus assigned to some Australian species which are not true Eriophora. As far as we know there are no true Eriophora in Australia. Name changes will occur in due course.Robertwhyteus (talk) 02:20, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Source?

[edit]

Really nice list, i wish we had this for other regions, too. But i could not find any source. If there's a source, I'll rate it A --Sarefo 00:31, 27 July 2006 (UTC) (WPSpiders)[reply]

Pictures

[edit]

In my view this should be arranged in such a way that there are pictures for each species, this allows identification without knowing the name easily. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.6.128.214 (talk) 02:04, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added a couple of images, with and without a frame. An image for every species would make the list very long, but a table would keep it neat. I think a dozen of the best known spiders is enough. cygnis insignis 03:12, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
