Discrepancy between population and rank

Currently Kinshasa (14.9m) is ranked first above Lagos (23m) despite the rest of the rankings mirroring the population column.

What's the main source?

It's not clear where the most of the numbers come from; the references only have data on South Africa, Algeria, and Libya.
