Estimated population of Gyumri

[edit]

What's with the estimated population of Gyumri (2016)? It seems very strange that the population of the country's second largest city has halved in the past five years... Perhaps there is a mistake here?

Trivial information

[edit]

Several columns in the table are simply excessive and unnecessary. For reference, see List of cities and towns in Poland, List of cities and towns in Slovakia, or List of communes in France with over 20,000 inhabitants. None of them contains flags or coat of arms. The dates of foundations are unsourced and arbitrarily chosen. The images are useless and don't add anything of value to this list. ----Երևանցի talk 13:33, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To whose authority? Yours? Just because you dislike something- does not mean its a valid reason to delete such a large amount of content. Archives908 (talk) 14:02, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at the pages I provided links for. Including flags and coat of arms and other non-essential information is excessive and not according to me. ----Երևանցի talk 14:06, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I did, and I understand your point. But I also see another side in which some readers will and do find this information useful. Besides, you only provided a few examples, however there are plenty of other pages which do, in fact, include that information. In addition, there are no Wikipedia policies which I am aware of that clearly stipulates we cannot include such material. Therefore, I disagree with such a mass deletion of long-standing content. You are also continuing to revert changes, after being warned and without a consensus being reached- which is not conducive to our discussion. Archives908 (talk) 14:18, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What additional information does the image of Nzheh's statue (or any other photo of Yerevan) really provide the reader?

I am fine with adding the Armenian names of the towns, but not in a separate column, but in parentheses next to their English names. We could also add the flags (in a smaller size) just before their names, but having two big columns for the flags and coat of arms is simply excessive.

As for the dates of foundation, it is very tricky. One thing we could do is add the dates they received city statuses (almost all during the Soviet period), but foundation date is controversial and debatable. ----Երևանցի talk 19:34, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I actually agree with that, Armenian names in parentheses, as well as flags (in smaller sizes) should be included, they are relevant as they do serve as visual references to the reader. Do you wish to take on this project since you seem to very focused on this right now, or do you need help? Archives908 (talk) 13:08, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Care to discuss your rationale? Archives908 (talk) 14:00, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MY rationale is right above this. ----Երևանցի talk 14:02, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
